Since Pochettino's come in, he's played 8 games and scored 3 goals; 5 goals in total this season. Completely different to the Morgan of the past who struggled to score!
And all three from close distance. He's scoring because he's getting into places where he rarely was before, and as it turns out he has better touch when he isn't trying to volley from 30 yards!
Up until about late Jan time, I'd been saying that I thought Puncheon had been our player of the season so far. But Morgan has just flown past him since then - and not just because Punch hasn't quite been the same recently. I said it last week. Morgan I think is our one player could walk into the starting XI of any other PL team. Opposition fans will no doubt disagree, but I would guess that is largely because they just haven't seen enough of him. Sheer class.
I think Morgan is the sort of player Arsenal really need. He would play next to Arteta and allow Wilshere to go further forward. I do think Morgan is good enough to be a first team regular at Arsenal. Fortunately that won't happen for a good few years if at all but there isn't much doubt Morgan Schneiderlin is one of the best midfielders in the PL.
Morgan is just playing a different role. With Nigel he was mainly a defensive/holding midfielder, who occasionally ventured forward, and although he was excellent doing that he has now become a true box-to-box midfielder. In doing so he now gets in those positions where he can score much more easily. For me, it has changed him as a player because, hand on heart, I didn't think he had that role in him. I'm very pleased he has though.
Schneiderlin is the best central/central defensive type midfielder in the league. I don't care what anyone says. I will keep saying it
Indeed. I think you could do with a bit of Rep. I'll do the unusual thing and see if I can successfully dole some out to someone.
Was outstanding today in both directions. Has really stepped up his game this season. How much better can he get?
So very impressed with Morgan this season, always thought he had talent but for me he went missing to often in previous years. I think in midfield you have to stamp your authority on the game, and that's exactly what he's doing this season. Defo. my player of the year.
No offence to Hammond, who I personally think is underrated, but at the start of last season he was keeping Morgan out of the team. He's been showing his true class since the second half of last season, where he and Cork first formed a great partnership.
