The thing is, if we are in trouble, The Mittals will hopefully pay the bill. Why else would a multi-billionaire take over a club. I am not saying we should go after 35+mill for a player, but we will need to spend abit of money to stay up.

No one is disagreeing with that, but the Parkers and Defoes of this world are more than a bit. They could go to virtually any club in the league, so why would they go to a side that will probably be fighting to avoid relegation? Their wages would be ridiculous for a club our size, and could destroy the team spirit. We will need team spirit next season, no doubt. All I’m asking for is realism. The dried up, has been players with premiership experience en mass are not the answer, in my opinion. A couple of wise old heads, yes, but no more. Young and hungry players, high energy with some guidance from those wise heads when required. After last season, I think we all have confidence in NW to sort it out – he certainly knows better than me.

Defoe is without doubt a quality player, but in my opinion, not the type of player we need. Graham would be a far better bet as far as I'm concerned, a player with something to prove. Not one one who's done it all, & may lack the effort & hunger.

Spot on there mate, theres no doubt about that; Warnock needs to be backed financially. Second-rate Prem players and top Ch'ship ones will be the way we'll go and rightly so IMO. For the first season up its all about building a solid side that can survive and that combo, if done correctly, can be more than adequate. Then the second year we can attract better players and move up the league a bit and so on for the season after that etc.

I think thats what the Club are aiming to do and if they do it right (please Flavio stay away) it can turn out a great success (eg. Stoke)
