Indeed was well chuffed with him it was a hard race too but he has been a very hard horse to train apparentlly he can be very moody at times and trying to get him back I think nicholls may be getting him back he has one more fairly big race win in him at least

Today is all about Cappa Bleu, but I am also sweet on Cantlow in the listed handicap and I have to say Bears Affair looks overpriced in the Liverpool Hurdle, given that he ran a good race off his handicap mark last time and this isn't a vintage renewal of the race.

The 3 I'd go for in the National in this order are Cappa Bleu, Chicago Grey and Imperial Commander. Won't be risking any cash on them though. Far to much of a minefield

And my bumper horses are Tistory and Sgt Reckless. I got 9/2 and 14/1 last night but those prices are gone. Excited about Tistory.

Can't believe I've got to page 4 of the thread and no one has mentioned Colbert Station with the champ on board. Took the big Paddy Power chase at Leopardstown over christmas and then took the piss in a pertemps qualifier over hurdles - the cheekiest winner of such a heat you are ever likely to see. It will clearly take a career-best run to win this but he has the right connections and is on a steep upward curve. I think Imperial Commander and Balthazar King will both run massive races and on lively ground I'll be chucking a quid each way at dear old Swing Bill.

Others which I shall be backing today:

1.45 Utopie Des Bordes - didn't stay in the Albert Bartlett and back to 2m4f she can make the most of the mares allowance
2.15 Overturn - the ground went against him at Cheltenham and he wasn't knocked about once beaten. Much more his surface today and we will see the real Overturn - they won't be able to peg him back.
2.50 Solwhit - won the Aintree hurdle a couple of years ago so likes the track (unlike Celestial Halo who has never won here) and he can confirm his World Hurdle success was no fluke.
3.25 Cantlow - hope his nose bleed stays away today
5.45 Tistory - feels like we've been waiting forever for this one to reappear

Big double on Overturn & Tistory

    Best of luck everyone <ok>

Morning all - the 3.25 at Aintree looks like it could be a cracking race. Having sort of studied it i have plumped for Russian War. looks well weighted and 12s is a decent price. Good luck everyone.

Inicdentally, as this is the first real test for channel 4 given it's never covered this meeting before, what do the honourable members of the forum think of the coverage? I must say i'm really impressed. I'm most surprised at mick Fitzgerald - now he's got a much bigger role than he did on the beeb i think he's been excellent. I also liked the bits with Alex Brooker yesterday as its always interesting to see the reaction of a non jockey when they see the chair and Beechers etc. Finally, the inclusion of an equine expert by the parade ring to tell us why this horse is so good etc. has been fascinating. As someoen else said, last night's documentaries were also a joy to watch. Today's obviously the biggest test but so far it's a big thumbs up from me.

    Morning all ...
My main 2 for the National are:-

    Colbert Station 12/1 E.W GP Places 1-5
    Teaforthree 16/1 E.W GP Places 1-5

An outsider for a bit of fun:-

Any Currency (Woody) - 100/1 E.W GP. Places 1-5. Could be quite topical with the problems in the eurozone!!

My daughters are on Lost Glory 66/1 E.W GP Places 1-5.

My missus is going for Weird Al (one of her sons is called Alex)...Becauseicouldntsee (finds the name funny for going over the national fences) and Seabass (woman jock on board!)... Dont you just love the National for this type of stuff..

Enjoy the day - off to the pub this afternoon with a good ole crowd ...

Its a big thumbs up from me ... im glad they arent going round the country to other courses and giving Aintree the coverage it deserves. More time can be spent delivering first class interviews and insight. Clare Balding is so professional running the show and you can see she is well respected by jockeys and trainers. I am glad there is less emphasis on the touch tone screen as that was really embarrassing to watch at time and is so unnecessary.. MickFitzgerald gives some great inside jockey knowledge. ...

I contacted channel 4 when they first started their new style coverage and team as i thought it was poor but they have improved no end and i have been very impressed with their Aintree Coverage so well done Channel 4!!

If he's back to his best then he has a huge chance. But I think that's a very, very big "if" and I don't think he can recapture the form which saw him get so close to Big Buck's at Cheltenham.

I hate when you have a ringer in a race like this. You know if you go against him he'll recapture his old form and beat the horse you've backed. If you go with him he'll no doubt run like a donkey

Good morning all, and what a morning... Bright sunshine and clear blue skies, with just a hint of a cold breeze to tell us we are not into spring fully yet...!!!

Got to tell you all that Southport last night was awash with money and some very sloshed up punters. It was great night, all be it a very late one, for all taxi drivers. Got done for 4.50ish... It may well be the same tonight if we get a few fav's coming in today...!!!

Just having my breakfast with a good cuppa tea and hopefully that will wake me up enough to pick a winner or 3 today... Well done to all the winners yesterday, lets continue the form through today...<cheers>

Taking a chance on Local Hero 20/1 in the 5.10. 19 lengths behind Zarkander in November on good to soft and I fancy him to go well after 150 days off.
