Tardelli believes that the Irish captain can use tomorrow's game to put himself in the shop window again and, as a regular visitor to QPR with their Italian connections, he wouldn't mind if Keane ended up at Loftus Road.
Off the top of my head; 1. Could be expensive. 2. Used to very high wages which he may not deserve now. 3. Alarming loss of form over the last couple of years. 4. Low confidence. However I do think that if Warmock fancies him he could come good and be a useful addition to our squad.
Don't sit on the fence Swords, tell it like it is! Heard he's captaining Ireland in the coming round of internationals... how must you feel? (Probably much like me watching postman pat and the fatcats unachieving as per usual!!) COYRs!!
Keane, who will lead Ireland out for tonight's Carling Nations Cup tie with Northern Ireland, rejected the suggestion that contact has already been made with newly promoted QPR, stating he doesn't expect any further clarity until July.
Oddly enough I think he still has a part to play for Irl although I'd now play Long up front with Doyle. You couldn't compare Keane with Long now. Based on his performances for West Ham it looks like hes on the way out. On the other hand, if Reading lose next Sunday, Long would be a great buy.
Hmmm, I'm imagining Keane at his best (Tottenham days) playing alongside the likes of Faurlin and Taarabt. What a prospect. Only he's no longer at his best is he. Could that stunning form of 3-4 years ago ever be recaptured? I genuinely don't know as I didn't see enough of him last season. I do remember one miss in the 6 yard box in one of WHU's last home games that would have embarrased even HH. Strikers = confidence jockeys and this one may have fallen off for good.
Agree 100%. He's not what we want. Danny Graham is more the kinda player we need I.E. young, hungry and with good potential.
sorry to play Devil's advocate here, but I think Robbie Keane on a free transfer, on a pay as you play deal linked with a goals bonus could be good for us and for him. Harry obviously doesn't fancy him, and yet while keane never exactly set the hammers alight, maybe a full pre-season under a manager who will install confidence could work. So far, apart from Graham, we whave been linked with Owen and also Carew, two players who have both spent a lot of time out injured. I reckon a years deal for Keane above (as long as it isn't stupid money) could work for both parties. For us goals, for Keane a chance to stick two fingers up at Spurs

Northern Ireland were humiliated 5-0 by the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva stadiium last night in the Carling Nations Cup, and their captain Gareth McAuley admitted they only had themselves to blame. Nigel Worthington's side produced an abject performance gifting goals to Giovanni Trapattoni's team by the fistful as Stephen Ward, Robbie Keane with two and Simon Cox scored to pile on the agony with a Craig Cathcart own goal in the middle of that lot capping a dreadful evening for Northern Ireland. Due to a boycott over the IFA's handling of ticketing and travel arrangements, allied to discontent at the FAI over what Northern Ireland followers see as the poaching of their players, just 210 away fans out of a poor crowd of 15,092 made the trip to Dublin. By the end of a truly dire 90 minutes from Worthington's players, they were probably wishing they had stayed away. Both managers were forced to field shadow sides, with the game clearly showing that Northern Ireland's youngsters aren't ready for this level. Dejected skipper McAuley, who has just joined West Brom, said: "It's hard to stomach especially as the defeat is all our own doing. I'd say four out of the five goals were preventable. The thing is it's a development squad we have here and things would have been different had we had our full squad. "We've got to try and take some positives out of it and view it as a learning experience for the young lads. You can't jump on people's backs. I thought at least we kept going after nerves and inexperience got the better of the team. We had a decent start and killed ourselves with their first two goals. " Manager Worthington said: "Nobody likes to lose any game. To lose 5-0 is very hard to take but I'm very realistic and look at the overall picture. You've got to deal with this in a professional manner." While it was a terrible night for Northern Ireland, Republic boss Trapattoni had much to cheer ahead of Sunday's Carling Nations Cup decider against Scotland and a vital European Championship qualifier in Macedonia.
