    your opinion is flawed Simon
Cest is a well respected poster on here, and like myself just about all the Sunderland fans enjoy his posts. I can see he has really got up your nose and for that all i can say is Cest have some rep from me, and i love your posts.

    Syd

Believe me, I do understand your joy and relief. What I cannot understand is the way that Sunderland fans have inundated our board with taunts and jibes about something that we consider to be a bit of a hollow victory. You may think that I am being bitter, but I can assure you that I feel no bitterness about this situation.

If you had offered me 12th place, 2 places and 1 point behind the Mackems, plus the never ending joy of the derby results and performances, at the beginning of the season I would have bitten your hand off.

I get embarrassed by some of the pointless and illogical things that some Newcastle fans say on here, and what I am saying is my sincere opinion. It may be the fact that I am not living in the area that allows me to take a different view, and maybe if I was living in the NE I would be spitting razor blades.

What I was trying to say was that if I was a Sunderland fan I would be happy and relieved that we had avoided yet another humiliation, and let's be honest you have had quite a few to put up with this year, and I would be content in the knowledge that there would not be an invasion by Newcastle fans crowing about the result. BUT AFTER EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED THIS YEAR, I WOULD NOT FEEL LIKE CELEBRATING. I would be far more concerned about my club than gloating at the buggers up road about what is really just a hollow victory. I just don't think that it is a feat worth shouting about and makes those who do, look desperate.

We have had such an enjoyable season and finishing above you would have been the icing on the cake, but that's all it would have been. It was not the "be all and end all" for us this year.

For me personally, there is absolutely no way that I would swap our season and league position for yours. I know that the table doesn't lie at the end of the season, but for me, the results and performances, and the way they made both sets of fans feel, the derby humiliations mean so much more than 1 point and 2 places in the league. AND THAT IS MY POINT.

I don't feel any humiliation in finishing just beneath you in the league, I am a realist (because as I have said many times, 17th would have been good enough regardless of what you lot do). If I was a Sunderland fan I would however, feel hugely humiliated every time the derby games are mentioned.

This is not a wind up, just a calm appraisal of the situation. If it means that you do not think that I am a NE footy fan then so be it. (mind you, I have never posted a dancing man on your forum, so you may be right)

As for you Cest, there is absolutely no point in replying to someone like you and Roger who resort to such childish insults from the safety of their keyboards. I try not to mock the afflicted and so I will treat you with pity rather than the contempt that you may deserve.

The derbies were 2 games out of 38 so get real and learn about football. Do you think Sir Alex Ferguson cares about derbies. The answer is no he just wants to win every game

Life is just a bowl of cherries but watch out for the pips

That's a fair point, but after so many boasts that as a club you were "light years ahead of us", to finish with 1 more point than us is hardly anything to shout about is it?

So you are saying that derbies are just like any other games. Maybe I am not the only one who needs to learn about football and get real eh?

Don't cherries have stones rather than pips??

Simon I understand where you are coming from................but that's just it, it’s your opinion.
How many times have newcastle fans flooded our board given the slightest opportunity.
I know newcastle fans who have lost money betting that you would finish above us this year. I do not know their motivation........they though you could do it.........or just banter? Who can say?

At the end of the day it’s just banter mate and some like to play rougher than others.

I really do respect your position and well thought out comments, however give us (well some of us) the pleasure of rubbing the noses of those who were more than happy to rub ours in the **** so many times..............

What a valuable contribution to the thread. Now I can understand why you've only posted 25 times since January. I suppose you'll be cringing reading your posts in the morning when you've sobered up!
