How is a speculative article on a website ashley's fault!!

However if he is demanding too much money... **** him!! Why should we pay over the odds wages for someone who has given us 1 decent season in 4 years???

On a personal note, he is a class A twat!!!

It has been said numerous times that he's willing to take a big wage cut to play here. Naturally, being one of our best players, Barton deserves a wage which is at the very maximum of the wage cap. If Llambias and Ashley aren't offering that to him, then I've lost all hope already.

They're direct quotes from McKay so unfortunately I see some truth in this. Again, they could be looking to offload him this summer and blame the player for not agreeing to a new contract.

We'd BETTER have some damn good replacements lined up if this is true.

I'd call an article with quotes from the player's agent more than 'speculative'.
Also what makes you think it's because Barton want's more money? A bit speculative, no?

Can i direct you to this:

Lens youngster Mehdi Abeid has confirmed he is Newcastle-bound after being pursuaded to join by compatriot Hatem Ben Arfa.

The 18-year-old said: 'I have had contact dating back some time and I visited the facilities there last week. The leaders of the club told me that they will rely on me for next season.'

Maybe he is a replacement.. plus we have Vuckic. maybe this is for the best in a way... barton will be approaching 30 by the time his contract runs out. say he wants a 3 year contract it opens up the possibility for youth players to be held back.

barton has served us well and if its his time to go its his time to go. no hard feelings from me. we have plenty to step up.

At the talk ins he has done recently he has not mentioned taking pay cuts to stay!

he has said he wants to stay but is nobody's mug!! he also said if he doesn't get a deal he will see his contract out!

Plus he is already above the new pay cap anyway!! thats why the club are trying to renegotiate!!

I hate to say it but I think he's away. A year is a long time though and he is staying next season. Hopefully within that year a compromise can be reached and a deal is signed. On th flip side it could work out in our favour. Barton might have an awful season next year and we want rid, you never know!!!

I'd imagine that's just a case of him choosing the wrong word in a non-native language, why would we sign an 18 year old who has been released by a mid-table French because he's not progressing enough, then throw him straight in to replace a highly experience player who our team hinges around?

Why the **** is Llambias making these decisions? In what way is he qualified to make an informed footballing decision at a football club? Ever since he became chairman the club has moved from disaster to disaster, he's ****ing useless. Ashley should give the stupid **** the elbow and get Chris Mort back.

Seems like too high a gamble imo. Barton is a class act and will most likely be for another 5 years to come as he doesn't rely on youthful pace in his game. Vuckic and Abeid will get their chances and if they are good enough they'll push Barton out of the first team but to get shot of our best player for free is suicidal.

I don't know what to think of this. If he signed a new three or four year contract and then he got into trouble or lost form due to age etc. we would be stuck with him, because nobody would touch him with a bargepole! On the other hand he was class this season. MA won't allow him to go on a free, therefore he will be sold in the summer I think for around £5 million.
