I'm getting pretty fed up with all of this gossip, direct quotes yes but agents are slimey twats that want their player on more money as they take a cut. If he stays one more year then leaves i think i'd be happier than if he left this summer. As mentioned though we have a few good youngsters coming through the ranks. Bring on August 31st!

True.. but i like to be optimistic... could be one of those gems.

Barton has been mostly used as a RW this season.So the way i see it,if we sign Gervinho(who plays on the right),he's off to another club.

 

If i'm being brutally honest ( and i know ill get slated for this) I think Barton has been average since shirly left.
He's a good player but nothing exceptional. He's way too over-hyped.
Still, I'd rather he stayed but i wont be reaching for the anti-depressants if he leaves.

Wasn't Joey saying something about loving his life in Newcastle so much that he'll still live there when he retires? He'll get offered a good enough deal and stay, this is probably his agent trying to panic our club officials into pulling their fingers out which they should have done a long time ago.

 

I think its silly that soon as news like this pops up everyone is like oh we are DOOOOOOMMMEEDDD!!!

Maybe it's just a trick. A threat to leave, if you will. Barton wants a longer contract, so his agent has come out and stated that he will leave for free at the end of his contract in a ploy to get the club to extend his contract length...

Got to say I'm disappointed with Barton. I've come to expect it from our board and know that a disaster is just around the bend (unlike some who just pretend everything's fine) but it seems petty that both of them are holding out over, what in football terms, is very little (£3.5 million?)
