A company from Qatar named Ooredoo quoted on Aljazira saying they'd want to sponsor Liverpool and rename Anfield Telecom co want to sponsor English team (stadium, shirts, etc) Mutual benefit (LFC need money & they want to get exposure into Asia) hmmm.
I never said anything of the sort & you took the '10 count' on this issue the other day, so leave it out lad.
lets just find a buyer and get the cheap skates out. we need a sugar daddy. once we've been bought by 20billion pound guy we can just waste money left and right, use 0% loans (oh wait ) to ourselves, make up fake sponsorships to cover the FFP and frankly jump the queue. Why should west ham get all the action cos they've a new stadium in 2016. why should spurs with crap all money and wages be in the top 4 potentially.... i'll tell you why.. cos we are a shower and have been for 20 years.... we may as well seel out and wave plastic flags and see mid table rubbish i say!
I like to be traditional but at the end of the day we now have random American owners and we're falling rapidly behind everyone else. If this gives us the cash injection we badly need then so be it.
of course, we know the kind of people who deal in absolutes, and are absolutely certain of their uneducated opinions in areas they have not studied as well as having some sort of unexplained complete understanding of business advertising and corporate morality So going by his brilliant understanding of how it all works, this Ooredoo lot must have no idea what they are doing I would not have Anfield renamed for a few quid Improvements in our performances will fix the finances. They can rename the training ground instead
Hardly a surprise that you followed the purile nonsense from that imbecile, without also checking the actual facts - which is exactly why I took him to the cleaners on the entire issue the other day - as I've never said anything of the sort, but given that facts rarely make a difference to your rants, carry on regardless
What do we all make of this? Its big money talk but could be a publicity stunt by unnamed Qatari and Ooredoo. I would never welcome a stadium rename. I doubt any fans or players would, and the owners will want to avoid it as best they can with there love of tradition and the home ground of there sports teams (Anfield, Fenway Park). But a shirt sponsorship and boards around the ground is perfectly acceptable. This sponsorship, along with Warriors could really boost us in the transfer market.
As long as the stadium is expanded to finally compete with the likes of Man U and Arsenal, there is enough money to propel us back in the top 4, we aren't lumbered with huge debts and this is the way to go about all the above. Then I'm good with it. They can 'Officially' call the stadium something corporate, I will always call it Anfield as long as it remains on the current site.
As I said above, rename the stadium whatever they want if it means we get some income but it'll always be Anfield regardless
Liverpool may have about £60 million to spend summer? Sell Suarez for £30 mil, Carroll for £10 and add £20 mill. YOu could sign 3 top class players fro that if done wisely and avoid overspending on mediocre British players as previously done. Could kick you up to CL quali level. Or maybe give Carroll a 2nd chance?
We need a better back-up keeper, a LB, at least two CB's (Carragher retiring, Coates is already packed and Skrtel's not flavour of the month or happy), a DM, a AM and another attacker. That's seven players and Suarez won't be leaving. Close call though pal
