Camelot is either not the horse we thought he was or he's not the horse he once was. Either way no excuses after that, well held and unplaced. Wow.

    Al Kazeem <diva>

Glad I got on before the money came for Camelot, might well have been swayed!

Fair play to Al Kazeem, race went perfect for him, I expected Maxios to be much handier, knew he had no chance after a couple of furlongs, he was where I expected Al Kazeem to be and Al Kazeem was where I expected Maxios to be. We might just have seen the Arc winner.

I'd go with he's not the horse some claim him to be. His form has never been great - the Racing Post Trophy has only produced 2 Listed winners since; the 2nd 3rd and 4th in the 2,000 Guineas have managed one G2 win between them; the Derby 2nd 3rd and 4th again have only managed one G2 win between them, etc.

The Fugue's the one I'll take out of that race. I don't know where she goes next, but I'll be on.

Montiridge's hd defeat in the first has given a nice form boost to Fury in the next

I think it's clear to see that the older horses contain no real stars this year as the winner just got the better of essentially a handicapper who managed to hang on grimly (Racing Post) in a group three as his best effort before today. It's a reversal of last year when the older horses were superb and the three year olds very poor, this year the three year olds look good.

I think Camalot ran to form actually asif you would have put the horses he beat in his best performance which would have been the Derby in that field I fee he would have confirmed his superiority to a similar margin. The problem has only ever been the hype. I think that's as good as he is, has been and will be, and that is a pretty decent horse, but not the superstar he sadly got cast as by connections. He is running to a very consistent mark in my book and connections just need accept the mark from the form book rather than insist he is something else.

Your frock does you credit, Archers <laugh>. Well, goddam it, the American lady says one is never fully dressed without the proper accessories? Bicycle pump, clips, crash helmet?

Anyway, the racing is bloody marvellous. Haven't had a bet, but still enjoying the hell out of it! I was just about to say it was about time the British trainers got off their fat asses, but just in time they have just managed a half decent result.

Imagine Camelot won the triple crown and retired with people speaking about him in the same breath as Nijinksy when really hes not that good.

ROTO are you as bemused at Spencer's Riding of Educate as I am? Held him up last and due to the completely unforeseeable wall of horses in the Britannia being in front of him is only able to start racing a full furlong after everyone else starts. Then has to pull out and flies home. Impossible to say he would have won but would have been at least good to be in the race.
