The BBC ratings have never been higher... From F1 Times: http://thef1times.com/index.php The BBC has reported its best peak viewing figures for both the Monaco and Spanish GP's for almost ten years, also taking into account ITV's years as the official broadcaster. The Spanish GP saw an increase of 1.2m on the 15 minute peak audience compared to 2010, as well as recording its largest viewership in the past decade of 6.2m. The Monaco GP achieved a similar feat, reaching 6.1m viewers at its 15min peak on Sunday afternoon. This was also the races biggest audience in the past ten years, seeing an increase of 400,000 on last year. This despite Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel running away with the championship having won five out of six races, though he has more often than not been closely followed across the finish line. Great news !
There hasnt been a boring race yet. also there is no big put off contraversy like 2007 for example. A lot of people in my office say 'I dont really watch F1 but I caught a race at the weekend and it was really interesting to watch' All I can say is the overtaking geeks at the FIA have done well and im sure FOM are seeing the dosh rise
This can surely only be a good thing for F1. Its mainly down to Pirelli of course, some is down to DRS and a tiny amount due to KERS but mainly Pirelli, I knew they would be good for the sport the instant they said they would make less durable tyres. And your right bando there has not been a single procession yet. thanks for posting this silver
Hopefully F1 will continue to air on the BBC. The BBC really have done a good job with F1 and having no adverts is a must. I'm still looking forward to each gp, even though this is looking like a Vettel white wash year.
After watching China, I didn't think it could be beat, but then Monaco came round and stunned us all I'm sure
Monaco was an action packed thriller of a race, although it was a little sour to take in as an avid McLaren fan.
I'm very heartened to see a thread on this subject SilverArrow. Thanks. It is good to know that the changes within F1 have been appreciated by the wider audience, even though some of us 'purists' might feel there is an element of gimmickry. And now that we have a good basic recipe, all we need to do is make gentle improvements to reduce the sense of gimmickry whilst retaining all the positives we are seeing.
As we have seen with the 606 site though the BBC is pretty thorough with what it says and does and if they have indeed already decided to ditch thesport after the expiration of the contract I really do not see them going back on that

Nice to see that F1 gets the coverage it deserves. It won't surpass Football or the Olympics as highest in 1 go, because, it just won't. Far more global and UK interest in those sports than F1
Thanks for the update, but it's been brought up already in: "Despite vettel dominace..." (Moderator needs to sort this out) Hope it's the top sport in 2015 but it'll be a big ask to overtake Football and Cricket on a worldwide scale. Yet F1 has yet to peak, there are plenty of places to explore for more spectators, like India which will be exciting this year I hope.
Canada is going to be fantastic, loads of overtaking with double DRS, and generally a very exciting race. Last year, the duel between Hamilton and Alonso, I think we need to see the same again this season, to give us non Red Bull fans some serious hope
