Yeah, cos we did so well with him in the team, he seemed to be such a positive influence. After he barely influenced his move to Chelsea I'm sure he'd be a really popular figure in the dressing room, just what we need. Were we 2nd or 3rd when he left?

Yeh don't want him back really, after how crap we looked with him as CF with cisse.although if his agent starts mentioning interest in his 'Senegalese left winger' I'd reconsider

Love to see Demba back, high quality. Like Townsend too but would prefer the likes of Ince or Redmond. I just think extreme pace will help us more.

Don't see what grudge we have against Ba. Signed the contract we put in front of him. Scored goals. Spoke nicely about the club and the fans. Asked to be paid what he was worth. Went to a club that would do that. Continued to speak nicely about the club and the fans.

Not for me. Any forward we sign should have raw pace that can stretch teams. With Sissoki plus a very rapid striker running beyond the player with the ball and in behind the opposition it will create space for Cisse.

We were way to static when Cabaye, Anita etc had the ball last season and the best way to fix that is to inject some pace in the team. Although Demba isn't slow he's also far from being described as quick.

I sincerely hope Sissoko's nowhere near going past the forwards next season. It's not his position, he's box-to-box.

Would have him back in a heartbeat. Looked toothless without him after he left.

I'm surprised West Ham are in for him. If people think he ****ed us over and wouldn't welcome him back at least we didn't drop 7m on him then loose him on a free in 6 months.
For the record I'd take a proven goal scorer back... as a team player.
The only question mark would be would the effort be put in to get to the top clubs like last time?
Both West Ham and us were used as a stepping stone.

Ba was always a team player while he was at the club. He just understood the rules of the game and didn't lie about it.

We will happily sign a player with a view to selling him on and getting a better player: that is, in fact, our stated business plan.

Ba happily signed for us with a view to being sold on to a better club. And why not ?

A club's legal obligation is to pay wages. Its moral obligation is to allow a player a fair chance of playing and advancing his career. We held up our side.

A player's legal obligation is to show up. His moral obligation is to play as well as possible and be nice to the fans. Ba held up his end.

Nobody is under any obligation til death do them part, nor to sacrifice their best interests for the other.

Fair enough. If it's a choice between Ba and Bent, no contest. Ba and Shola, even less of a contest.

Christ, I'd just like to see us do SOMETHING so I know where to pitch my expectancies. If we're genuinely trying to sign Bent on the cheap as our only striker priority, then there's something deeply wrong. But if we're actively pursuing a return for Ba, then that's no bad thing. It's humility and ambition.

I don't have an issue with his attitude and performances when he was here.
In fact I'd rather have players who keep their heads down and crack on in the hope of moving to a bigger club rather than a team full of badge kissers who spout off all the time about loving the fans/area/club whilst living off past reputation/glories and put the bare minimum graft in. (Duff springs to mind).
My only issue was he often took difficult shots when other people were better placed, and, it appears, created a fuss if he wasn't number 1 striker, affecting Cisse's season.

That's because they realise that to progress in the Premier League, you need to invest in better players.

I find it amusing that you are in some way 'morally offended' that the 'Ammers owners are embroiled in the Porn' business... Mike Ashley/WONGA/sweat shops etc?.

I think it's fair to say that I find the porn industry more beneficial than I do Sports Direct or WONGA! :emoticon-0111-blush

    A striker greedy ? That's crazy talk !

As for him and Cisse, that is a problem. You play one or the other. Frankly I think Ba is better but that probably changes week by week.

If Ba came back (which I can't see as terribly likely) start one of them one week, bring the other on as fresh legs with 15 minutes left, and then swap roles the next week. We'd still need someone ot play "second striker" with both of them.

I would love to see him back at Newcastle, but as for pairing him up with Cisse, well it doesn't work, so l can't see it happening.
Don't think that Cisse and Bent would work any better to be honest.
    Cisse and Kone ? Maybe
Personally would love to see us in for Lukaku, but that would need some serious effort and realistic money, so that's another no goer then.
Likely to end up with Cisse and Strolla and that elusive line still looking to be crossed.
Also what's happened to our need for another quality CB, not talk, even stupid talk in that respect.
One can only hope that there is lots of activity going on behind closed doors and signings will come out of the blue, and only when they are completed.
