Then you can say goodbye to Hatem, Sadio and Moussa too.

It'll be Ramadan.

He'd be in hospital if he even tried the intense pre-season training in this heat. His body will be in starvation mode so he will be doing lighter training for now. Has to do that on his own.

There are different degrees of Islam.
I seem to remember only Ba and Cisse fasting last year, nothing was mentioned of Tiote.

My missus is a muslim, although she doesn't fast, her parents do. Think its to do with personal choice/job/how religious you are. Without going too much into it, think its a waste of time mind.

I find it so strange that faith now fits a spectrum when by definition it's complete. Nothing is definitive anymore. Fair play to him if true, the other 'muslims' are a joke. As Well as any others who claim to be 'religious' on a part time bases.

Just my opinion of course. :D

Well, it sounds racist to me!!!!

Why "..all our Muslim players.."? Why not just name Tiote and Cisse? or even all our other Muslim players.

Please plug your brain in before speaking.

I believe its only Cisse who is fasting again. Tiote, HBA etc didn't last year. HBA certainly looks like he has been fattening up for fasting over the summer. That lad needs to start looking after himself better if he wants to avoid injury and fulfil potential.

Cisse simply returned late following internationals and did the gym work that others did previously by all accounts. Yet another non story.

Islam isn't a race, therefore not racist. Still grossly offensive.

There are plenty of muslims in the Premier League and people who hold strong religious convictions. Yet why does there only seem to be a problem at Newcastle. It doesn't add up on face value.

That sounds far more likely to me.

Not as dramatic though. I love the simpleton approach personally of "well it doesn't add up, what about the other muslims". Yes because all followers of any particular faith practice their religion in exactly same way. Who really knows but certainly the club version sounds a little more likely. First paper to print this story? The gospel that is the Daily Fail <laugh>

I have an twinge of sympathy for Cisse and the Muslim players here, but ONLY in terms of the club knowingly walking into this kind of fire by choosing Wonga.

HOWEVER I would also have to admit that I am something of a religious sceptic across the board – not in hateful or intolerant terms, I just have no time for organised religion whatsoever.
I see it exactly for what it is and therefore retain the right to be paranoid about its motives. In the same way religious people have the absolute right to believe what they like I might add.

What makes me intrigued by this though is, I'm pretty certain Cisse must have his wages paid into a bank. The club surely won't pay him cash in hand and I can't imagine he keeps it under his bed.
Even an ethical bank surely can only exist within the typical business models down the line so isn't this a contradiction on behalf of the player?

We're also all within a Barclays Premier League with a logo on every shirt sleeve and I'm damn sure they deal in interest last time I checked?
Perhaps it's ok as long as you're the one receiving it FROM the bank?

Strange. I think the problem the club has is if you allow him not to wear the logo then it opens the door for people to start saying "I'm vegetarian so won't be sponsored by Ginsters"... Or Greggs :D
But yeah you get the gist, plus you'll find customers asking for the 'blank' Papiss Cisse replica shirt when they get his name on the back.

Oh yeah and while we're at it can we please insist modern, highly-tuned professional athletes abstain from Ramadan? Where do we draw the line here, no training on week days?
If your religion is incompatible with the career you wish to pursue, if it were me I'd weigh up what was most important and concede a choice must be made.

It's not a race thing and I would say the exact same for Christians, Catholics, Buddhists or Scientologists and not just Muslims – far from it.

It's a pragmatic view, and its just my own folks so I don't want to cause a big fight on here or any offense! :D

They don't really flaunt it or take it seriously though. I've never seen the 3 of them show the slightest interest in Muslim culture, especially Hatem.

He's always just seemed like a young bloke from an arabic family that was a bad boy in his younger days.

I was referring to Muslims that allow their religion/faith/culture to influence their performances and/or careers.

So they can be Muslim as long as they do it in private?

That's good of you.

Sigh. There always has to be one that has to take conversations on this forum past respectful laid back conversation.
