....fantastic post and one which we should all copy onto our signitures underneath to stop the only thing Caridiff fans think they got over us, as I said before though its like talking to a brick wall with most of them, logic and fact doesn't apply!
Hopefully getting this thread back on track. As we all know success breeds success and with that in mind there is no reason why Swansea cannot continue to grow. However, you can only generate so much cash through the turnstiles and as someone alluded to earlier a majority of income is from sources off the football pitch. Once scenario is were Swansea to finish in the top 6 this season how many players would you retain for the coming season? There will be interest in your players from the big boys and if Michu & Bony shine your strike force could go in one transfer deal. You then have to replace them with similar quality and next time it may not be so easy to replace them relatively cheaply. Using Arsenal as a example is all well and good about prudent management but they have a recognised global product of many years standing and a stadium of 60,000 that fill on a regular basis. So they have some clout and Wenger has done well over the years spotting talent over the years and some bargain buys. Personally I believe you need your own stadium, with a bigger capacity than the Liberty, or the Liberty capacity is increased substantially. How much lost revenue is there at the Liberty stadium? Would the stadium owners increase the capacity? How will this affect the Ospreys (limited crowds I believe) and other events held at the Liberty? It would increase costs all round which would not sit well with others. Building your own stadium may not help you retain more players but it will increase your income stream significantly and make Swansea a more attractive proposition going forward. An interesting dilemma but a nice place to be.
Taff - The stadium is to be expanded to 32500. Starting at the close of this season I believe and done in stages across the next few close seasons.
Swim - I find if I come on here and actually get involved in the discussions I invariably have to deal with some complete imbecile who draws me into a war of words. I put stuff up when I think people will be interested in it and hopefully it'll create a bit of positive debate. About football. Musty, I see you've commented but you seem to be mistaking me with someone else. Wow. You've got 2 billion "points"? I bet that helps you sleep soundly at night.
Stereo, do you think, if the Swans continue to progress, they will outgrow the stadium agreement as it now stands? A 32,000 stadium would be great footing for a fanbase in the premier league. Should you reach the higher echelons of the football pyramid then a further increase in capacity would be needed. I would suggest that is when the Swansea board may look at either buying the Liberty (if that is an option) or building a new stadium from scratch.
Taff, planning application has all ready been submitted to take the ground up to 32-34k. It will be done in phases the North stand (away end) will be the first then the South stand and the final one will be the East stand. Most of the ground works will be carried out while the season is in progress then the roof and seating to be done in the close season. Swansea and Cardiffs grounds are owned by the local authority andleased to the Clubs. Neither will buy.
Sorry UplandsTavernSwan but I'm not from Planet Swans, if I were I wouldn't come on here and ruin a very good site the way they've ruined theirs.
I haven't a clue what any of that means at the moment, I'll have to have a delve into things. But thanks anyway!
My head says that we've reached our limit but my heart says we now have a first XI who can compete with anyone. Would love to win the Europa...I know that statement might seem ridiculous to an outsider but we beat last years winners over 2 legs so why not? Just need a kind draw and some big performances when it matters.
Trouble here is, that most Kairdiff fans ignore the point of CVA, I remember back a few seasons trying to drum this point home to them, but they were either too thick to understand, or simply chose to ignore for their own limited agenda, but glad to see you rammed that point home very well on this occasion Fernanda, because goodness me it needs ramming home!.................
If my memory serves me correctly, Scott was one of our mods a few seasons back (Thankless job by the way, I know, I've got the tea-shirt for it!), and he had got pretty much cheesed off with all the infighting on here, and decided to give it a rest, and to be frank, I didn't blame him, so I can understand why he handles the forum the way he does, anyway pleased for his input, and his Matchday threads were top draw if you remember, so can we cut him some slack please, I know you didn't mean anything by it swim, you don't have a bad bone in your body mate!....................
If you knew anything about the Swans, I'd give a toss, but as you don't, your opinion means nothing to me. People who can, you know, read and punctuate correctly are more than aware that I don't, and will never copy and paste anything (except, obviously, direct quotes), and your continued suggestions that I'm doing so are vindictive, untruthful and slanderous. Then again, I wouldn't expect anything else from you...
