I would imagine the truth was....

    JFK- 'Any chance of ince?'
Blackpool- 'who are you again.... oh yes.... I remember....ok....if the price is right Joe?'
    JFK- '£1m plus add ons?'
    (silence)
    JFK-ok £1.1m?)
    (phone goes dead)

Newcastle made an enquiry about England Under-21 winger Thomas Ince on transfer deadline day.

Reports in the Mail on Sunday suggest the Magpies approached Blackpool about buying the son of their manager Paul Ince.

But the deal was vetoed before it got anywhere by people within the Toon’s “management team” who were not convinced a £10m bid for the 21-year-old was the way to go.

The former Liverpool youngster is believed to be the offensive player referred to in Alan Pardew’s post transfer window statement.

Defending director of football Joe Kinnear’s record in the transfer window, he said: “Joe has worked hard on numerous targets, particularly an additional offensive player. However some of the options that were available within our financial means were not as good as the players we already had and there is no point bringing in new players unless they can improve us and take us forward.”

Anyone who had inconsequential 'enquiries' made about them during the transfer window by Newcastle had a lucky escape, if you ask me.

No, we shop in all the expensive places we just wait on all the damaged goods or nearly out of date stuff to get reduced.

He plays exactly same position as Ben Arfa. An excellent prospect but would be wasted on the bench.

This was reported a while ago by the Journal. £10m too pricey? I think so. Overpriced Englishmen.
