Maybe if we had substituted our players for cardboard cut-outs of our players City wouldn`t have scored as many. It`s been a while since i`ve seen such a lacklustre performance from a Man Utd team. Ok sometimes a player or two may under-perform but for pretty much the whole team to look like a bunch of ball watchers, seemed weird. Reading through this thread some fans seem to blame DM for his team selection, that`s fine we all have our own opinions but i expected a better performance from the players he selected.
It was a naiive selection though, don't you think? He seems obsessed with playing 4 4 2 and he quickly needs to realise that Fellaini is a piss poor imitation for Roy Keane if he thinks that was who he's just signed. 4 4 2 was never the correct selection against City, or indeed against most sides, as we do not have the quality in midfield to carry it off. Our wingers are ****. Let's get this straight right now, Young is ****ing gash and Valencia is also piss poor against half decent oppostion. They are not Giggs or Beckham or Sharpe or Kanchelskis. They are NOT good enough to play 4 4 2 . Neither are Fellaini or Carrick, full stop. Now, whether this is to placate Rooney and he feels he has to play him as part of a front pair I don't know but Rooney needs to appreciate quickly that RVP is the centre forward and Rooney plays off him, even of that is off the left in a front three. Yesterday though that was irrelevant, Moyes could have played Rooney as centre forward and gone 4 3 3 and given our midfield some protection. They were exposed though and Young and Valencia did nothing to help out, ******s. Also, one of Vidic or Ferdinand needs to be on the bench, I don't care which but we need a Jones or Evans alongside as together they're way too slow. Oh yeah, and of course we don't need an Ozil. Course we don't. Because we've clearly got guile and creation right through the side.
Yesterday was the perfect opportunity to play Rooney up front with Kagawa in the hole. I really don't get this not playing Kagawa, he's a top top player, he's creative, got quick feet, has an eye for goal and can create good link up play, he is exactley what our team needs and he's not even coming off the bench. Januzaj would have done better than a lot of or players yesterday. I hope that's Ashely Youngs last start in a long while. All things considered though it's just 1 defeat, we are 5 points off the top having played Chelsea, City and Liverpool in our first few games. As baffling and dissapointing as yesterday was we have got a bloody tough run of games out of the way and hopefully now we can get a bit of momentum going and clawing those 5 points back.
Wayne Rooney did not have a pre season, but DM has played him in to form by playing him in every game possible, why has he not done the same for Kagawa, at the very least , Kagawa would have been a better option on the left than Welbeck or Young, and since Nani has been fit even though he prefers to play on the right, he is still a better left winger than young or welbeck, even young Adnan is a better option because if you are going to play two defensive midfielders, then you have to have a whole load of creativity around them.
I agree league wise but Wednesday now becomes a very big game. Lose that and Moyes is under pressure, as mental as that sounds. Win and he's got some breathing space. Then it's Shaktar away, another match we can't afford to lose. Welcome to the reality of being United's manager Dave, good luck.
Sooner or later Moyes will have to give Kagawa a run of games. City has got Silva and Nasri. Who else have we got in that role? Fellaini and Carrick are not going to do that. they were dreadful yesterday and the City players ran rings round them. As for the wingers, the less said the better. We may well have a run of wins against less powerful opposition, but if (and that not f**king certain) that happens I do not want it to paper over the cracks. Champions need to reinforce. We have learnt this over the years with SAF. last year City didnt reinforce and lost the title. This year it is United and this is made even more acute with the change of manager which has not happened for 26 years! Hold on to your hats.
Naive selection yes i agree in fact i pretty much agree with all you have written, especially with Rio and Vidic and their immobility. I am just a bit miffed that the team didn`t really show any urgency or determination even after going behind. At least when they beat us 6-1 it was mainly because our players were going gung ho and wouldn`t accept defeat.
Superawful game. We started with four centre-halves and still conceded two in the first half. Ok our squad isn't as good as City or even Chelsea for that matter but it cannot be useless in a space of a few months. The manager has stuck with Fergie's team but givenEverton orders which was neveer gonna work. Moyes needs to think something original and it better be good, worthy of United.
Can we have this as a sticky thread? Such a significant day despite the loss. If DM eventually got the sack, we can look at it as the turning point of his era, or if he were to be a success, this could be seen as a baptism of fire. Until then, I'd like to wallow in this misery. Anyway, weird thinking.
Moyes will take time to get adjusted to the players and United as a team as a club...The players may be the same but they respond differently to him. In a weird sort of way, I am glad it has happened early in the season and the loss was emphatic so that Moyes could not be any more clearer about the tasks confronting him. Whilst he may get away with some defeats at Everton, he has got to start thinking only of winning. He has got to avoid losing against the big boys: $ity and the Chavs but win against all the others, even when the team is not playing well. The result is not catastrophic but it all depends on how the team responds...First stop the thick scousers
The trouble for Utd is that Rafael, Evra, Carrick, Cleverly, Anderson, Young, Nani, Valencia, Welbeck, Smalling, Jones etc are just simply not good enough for Manchester Utd. None of these average players would get anywhere near SAF best 25 players There is a lot of deadwood that needs replacing with real world class quality. P.S. At least one or two of the posters can't blame Giggsy for the defeat
In the case of Carrick and Evra the fact they've each won five league titles a champions league and have two CL runners up medals each would suggest what you just said is ****e. In the case of Jones he will become a very, very good player indeed. I'll give you the rest though
You said they are average. They're not. You don't get to play 250 or so games for United and win so much by being average. Of the players you mentioned I'm just pointing out that three are worthy of playing for us. In fact Rafael isn't that bad either.
