Another fine display - my MOTM today - and yet again lumps kicked out if him; plus a few sly off-the-ball shenanigans too. I hope the long fuse is here to stay. A couple more observations - he finished the Middlesbrough match as captain, and played today in the mould of captain. In the last two matches he's been one of the first to shake hands with the officials and was again the last player to leave the field, thanking the supporters. Even his tweets have become more refined and reflective; dare I say it, non-confrontational. Keep it up Joey!
Joey is doing a fantastic job for the team this season, such a transformation - hopefully that fuse doesn't get lit Nov 5th? please log in to view this image Who are those guys in hoops - R's, French onion sellers? Sorry a leopard never changes his spots and his the biggest leopard I've ever known. Dont get me wrong I'm happy that his playing well and behaving himself but like most things in life when things are going right eg a winning team that goes a long way to having a happy camp.
Simpson's work rate is phenomenal. He is up and down that line and is solid and he has a very good understanding with Barton. Lovely moment today when the chant 'he shags who he wants' bought a big smile from him..
I'll never join in the ''There's only one Joey Barton'' chorus, but fair play to him so far. If Barnsley had applied themselves to playing football as much as they did to booting Barton up in the air they might have created something of note.
Im never gonna be a Barton fan if i'm honest .BUT ...If he wants to keep putting in good performances to earn his dream move, then thats fine by me Still wouldnt care if he left though but have to give him credit for what he has done........shame he couldnt do it the last 2 years! if he get us up, then he has proved a good NPC player!!
Barton and Simpson were both excellent yesterday. I would say Simpson was MOM with Joey just behind. I think Joey is on 4 bookings and 1 away from a ban so I wonder if he is on best behaviour because of that. Although actually I would prefer him to miss the Millwall game, but be available for Burnley and Wigan given a choice. Not sure about the football league, but in the PL I think booking counts get reset at 1st January or something like that.
