See my post above, he hasn't scored a penalty for us except the one in a shootout against Rotherham in the League Cup. I still agree with your point though.
Every cross that flashed across the box, flashed nowhere near Danny Graham,or any other city player. I thought we'd agreed, the crossing was ****e yesterday ? Has anyone mentioned how the ball just wouldn't drop for us ? How many times did the ball break "loose",in the box,and leave our players achingly frustrated, that it was just out of reach ?
I don't know why we rely on crosses so much when we have Huddlestone who can deliver a long pass that drops in the box for a striker to run on to. For some reason he doesn't play that pass very often, but when he does we suddenly have a striker facing goal with the ball at his feet, which is far more dangerous than a ball flashing across the area with four or five defenders waiting to head it away.
He won't be eligible when we play Sunlan at home on November 2. Whatever he does in the next 2 games, Graham not playing that day will give Sagbo the chance to show what he can do. Its up to Sagbo to grab the shirt with both hands. I like Graham and I think the team values his work rate. Most importantly SB thinks he's good enough so that will do for me. As for Austin we couldn't take the risk with another player with glass knees - and there is no guarantee he would score in the premier league.
Elmo's crossing was awful, I don't know if the problem is in his head, with this being the PL & putting pressure on himself because he was excellent last season. There's another level - been watching Andros Townsend put 3-4 fantastic crosses in the box vs West Ham now. You've got to do it consistently.
No but some on here expect DG to stick two/three chances in every game. Even when he hasnt had a chance!! Top scorer in the league is on 6, DG should be on 14 goals according to some on here.
In his Swansea days DG would have dived and headed that cross home, he has lost his predator instinct at the moment.
The reserves are in a terrible reserve league such a poor standard. Big Nick as improved on his heading but overall not strong or quick enough. Graham does hold the ball up well but sometimes you just wish he could get ahead of his marker in that 6 yard box. I don't think we have seen enough of Sagbo to really judge him although he does seem pretty strong. Gedo from what we so last season seems quick to get on the end of things but dosn't hold the ball up as well as Graham. Overall at the moment even though Graham's not scoring i can see why Bruce is sticking with him because of the way he brings others into play. I think we are all disappointed that he is not scoring and are willing him to do so. Lets not forget Bruce knows we need to add a striker or else he wouldn't have tried to sign Long. Overall we haven't got great alternatives up front
I agree, Chaz, some dreamers on here who always over analyse things; but he's a striker so we should always expect him to score some time or another.
So what you're saying is it's the entire team's fault for his lack of goals? Once again it does seem indeed that he needs the ball on a silver platter to score. A striker is meant to know how to create chances and can't always rely on everyone else for him to tap it in. Danny Graham CANNOT create a chance. He has zero pace and his decision making is poor. It's a ****ing joke that people are saying he's doing well "running in good positions". **** me we brought a player to make runs. It's Mclean and Simpson all over again.
The way I see it is he is Championship quality. There's a clear pattern he did well in his first season for Swansea because he had momentum from Watford season. Just like we did with Phil Brown in our first premier league run and now he's been found out and out of his depth. it's incredibly obvious to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwKxaPOWneI Also his swansea goals are all sitters really, 1 on 1 with the keeper. Not sure if he had pace back then but when have our strikers ever been in positions like he was in those goals. I'm afraid he is going to have to work harder if he wants to score. He can't expect chances like those.
Spot on. He's as slow as molasses. Never seems to make the intelligent incisive moves to get open. Can't head the ball to save his life (see Swansea record). As for those who say he hasn't had a CHANCE!! Come on. I can count at least six that he's missed. What games were you watching? Personally I'd take Jay Simpson any day. Gedo has been named by Bradley in Egypt's final squad for the Ghana game in Kumasi on Tuesday October 15th. Just hope he's recovered in time for the Everton game.
Gedo needs the chance when he is fully fit which should be after the international break. If Gedo doesnt bang them in we really do need to try and splash some real cash for a striker in January. Eventually Grahams lack of scoring is going to cost us. The effort he puts in on the pitch can only take us so far.
Source was from an interview with Leighton James "He's 6ft 3in and the fact he didn't score a header tells you everything you need to know about the service. Swansea play with one up front which I don't like, and I don't think it helped Danny in the slightest. "It's the only position on the pitch that you are outnumbered."
