If there was a consistent camera on the A1 between say Birtley and the City Centre West turn off, I reckon the government would have an extra million in their coffers.

50 on that road is f***ing ridiculous... As is Birtley's main-road being a 20mph zone. The road is five times wider than a backstreet. It's genuinely difficult to know whether such speed limits are simply there to subconsciously agitate drivers, or whether they serve some actual purpose. They certainly are not "high accident" roads.

What's more, why the f***ing hell do roadworks take so long to complete? And why so many cones, roping off 30 miles of perfectly usable road simply to protect three guys smoking near the 35cm wide crater they haven't touched since lunch... Is it artificial governmental traffic calming? if that's the case, I think I have a better idea. They're called road humps, or sleeping policemen... but instead of having incompetent road-workers spend all year compiling them, let's just use the transport ministers and a few of the Tory back-benchers until their corpses wear down on my tyres

 

Nearly always road works going on between Birtley and the Interchange, maybe somebody at the Council getting a nice back hander off a contractor.

 

I can and have walked to and back from Newcastle faster than public transport

The last time I clicked on a link from a forum (either this one or old 606), my computer lit up with a picture of 3 old hairy guys in a tub doing something I was too innocent to understand at the time. I don't know why, but I think WarmPouch was responsible.

I clicked on a link from someone I (thought) I knew, and it crashed my entire laptop, which then had to be fixed. Fortunately, the IT technician at my chool is a nice guy...

I got caught speeding driving up to newcastle earlier this year around Yorkshire I think. The speed awareness course was the best 4 hours of my life.
