they tried several times to keep him apparently but he was adamant that he wanted to leave. i think he knew that bigger clubs were scouting him. Charlton are disappointed to lose him, but happy with the compensation, and that Arsenal have offered them decent money up front rather than having to go through a tribunal. it gives them decent money to spend this summer so I'm not surprised it's all been concluded this early.
Younggunsblog was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy ahead of the BBC on this one. He actually seems a good signing. He's an Arsenal fan from an Arsenal-supporting family and it's wonderful to see their manager and chief exec talk in such glowing terms about his attitude, ability and the way we treated Charlton in the transfer.
