Not a runner for MotM but I thought Mannone had a good game today. He was very decisive when coming for the ball, and he was keen to release players through well placed throws. Having said that I'd like to throw Ki's name into the hat for MotM - his distribution from the middle was excellent, and his decision making I thought was first rate. But on reflection can you give MotM to the manager??????
Wess Brown Bri, followed by Mr Bardsley.. You can tell Bardsley's playing for a manager he loves to bits..
Crunchie head for me closely followed by Seb then Ki. All players gave their all today tho. I would also like to give a mention to the referee and both linesmen who imo gave true decisions all game. Seb maybe lucky with a first half challenge but hey we were due a bit luck.
You lot there - the crowd - made the difference. Could be heard on TV. Proud of you boys there today x
Mannone: 8, aerially dominant. Made very good saves when he had to. Celustka: 7, held the ball well and came forward. Very much a Poyet style player Bardsley: 8, a well taken goal. I thought he dummied the goalie into thinking he was going for a near post shot. Defended resolutely and Phil, we forgive you now, so ****ing apologise you ****. PS: a return to the Scotland squad must be written in stone now. Well done son! Ki 7, did well in the midfield, I can't understand Swansea letting him go, but for development. O'Shea 7, looked solid and dependable throughout Brown 9, he was inredible, ****ing awesome in fact, his sense of positioning borders on the clairvoyant. Physio's: keep that ****er fit and we'll finish mid-table undupitably MOM, though ahead of Bardinho by a whisker. Giaccherini 6, keep playing him, one or two sublime touches today ande wwas generally a bit of a menace -we have a match-winner in this guy, even if he's moving on, he has every incentive to perform. (Gardner - 72': 4, where was he?) 07 Larsson: 7, still a bit wayward at times with his crosses and forward balls, although he played his nuts off today, though seemed to tire a bit. Good on yer son 09 Fletcher: 7 gave his all (Altidore - 77': 7, made Fletch look second best after he came on and well done 'buddy', I've always rated this lad -cue: the Star Spangled Banner ...I think he'll get to Brazil) Colback: 8, top draw (I haven't always agreed with those claiming he's the new Scholes) really, solid, gritty, committed performance. Johnson 6: decent enough first half, nowhere near his England shirt billing ...well he's certainly no Gareth Bale is he? Faded badly I thought in the second half, which is inexcusable imo ... (Borini - 87': 4, didn't see nowt of the Mag-slayer, however, I thought it was a brilliant substitution)
