I'd say £20m is about right.
If Krul did go... who would we get in?
    Forster?

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has put a £20million price tag on goalkeeper Tim Krul to fend off interest from Juventus, according to The Sun.

Krul has been in excellent form so far this campaign, producing a man of the match performance against Tottenham last time out where he broke a Premier League record by making 14 saves in one match.

And Italian giants are reportedly lining up a move for the Dutch international to replace legendary 'keeper Gianluigi Buffon, who is now 35.

However, the side from Turin will have to shell out a sizeable fee in order to secure Krul's services, who has recently declared he is happy at Newcastle.

The 25-year-old shot stopper, who has five caps for Holland, will be looking to keep up his run of form in order to secure a place on the plane to the World Cup in Brazil next summer, after Pardew recently stated that he believed Krul was the best Dutch goalkeeper.

It remains to be seen whether or not Juventus are willing to pay such an amount for Krul, but Newcastle fans will be hoping the fee is enough to put them off as the club's No 1 has become a fan favourite on Tyneside.

If we did get £20mil we should go in for Forster and Zoet, between them they wouldn't cost more than £10-12 mil, we would have a quality keeper and another coming through the ranks and Ashley could bank £8-10 mil himself. WIN-WIN.

    Still rather keep Timmy though!

It will be Cabaye who goes in January.
I can see Krul and HBA moving in the summer.
If we can get £50m in for all 3 I would be happy.

The France thing works in our favour - Cabaye isn't going to risk a World Cup by heading off to Arsenal and sitting on the bench. Cabs will now stay, Deschamps has made it quite clear what it takes to get picked. No question whatsoever that he'll go in the Summer, mind.

Not sure Krul will go. It's a typical rumour on the back of his best game; Krul was much, much better 2 years ago than he's shown this season or last. There are other keepers at other clubs who won't charge NUFC fees, and Milan/Juve haven't got that kind of cash. Look at Vorm, for example. Or Stekelenberg. Keepers tend to be much more loyal when they're getting game time. Schwarzer, Friedel, Given; all carried on during rough times for their clubs.

HBA might as well be sold. He can't sit around being an impact sub, his price will go down and we need to make as much as we can. I just don't think its worked with him as we hoped; as has been pointed out, Pardew's plan often involves putting in a shift and it's the one thing you can rely on HBA not doing. I love the thought of HBA, but I just don't love the reality at the current NUFC. I struggle to work out where he will do well - the laziness that creeps in coupled with him seeming to feel he's got to do something amazing every time he has the ball makes him worse than if he knew when to release, when to play it easy, and so on. I'd sooner we were trying to accommodate Tom Ince or Andre Ayew than HBA, though.

Why did Pardew feel the need to put a price on Tim? It now lets everyone know that this is his price for selling, surely he should have remained silent and told all those enquiring to just sod off.
Forster is not my idea, of a keeper who could replace Tim, for a big guy he hardly is a dominant keeper.

It's a bit like putting Tim in the shop window. I just don't understand it, how much will he have earned us by keeping us in the Premier League?

More than what we'll get for him in the transfer market.

He was probably in effect telling the journalist asking him the question to **** off by quoting a silly figure. I he'd refused to comment then there wouldn't have been a story, but we know that Alan Pardew will talk to journalists whatever the question.

I wouldn't say he is trying to fend anyone off, he is advertising.

Mate, why are you so happy that the club would be lining Ashley's pockets?

Do you think this is Football Manager where a percentage of the sales go back to your transfer budget?

Sorry to break the news to you, but we've only made profits in transfers over the past few seasons(which club does that, seriously?).

Sorry not convinced. His saves look uncomfortable and he never catches anything. Positionally he is suspect and his kicking is worse than krul's.

Slight problem with this would appear to the lack of any quote from Pardew, and the mention of the Sun newspaper. I find it highly unlikely he would have put a figure to him, the normal line is it will take a lot of money. I'm not sure why anyone gets upset when he answers these questions anyway. We all know all of our players are available if the price is right. Pardew simply learnt his lesson with Carroll, it ain't up to him. Lets face it, its no different to any other club in terms of players having a price.

All Pardew has done is answer a question too put potential buyers off or taking the p*** with the journo.

If we stick to our guns on any fee for Krul, no club will pay anywhere near £20m.

Good goalkeepers only cost £10m at most these days, look at Mignolet and Lloris recently.
Is it not the case that in the last dozen years, only 2 keepers have cost more than £10m, Neuer and De Gea.

Krul isn't as big a financial asset as some people think.

Since when does Alan Pardew set the price for our players???

Ha ha ha ha... that's hilarious.

We all know it's however much JFK can count out on his chubby little fingers before Ashley sets the latest amount he wants to pocket.

If he squeezes £20m for Krul the first team will be lucky to see £2m of it...

For another cheap French midfielder while Elliot gets the nod between the sticks.

I'd hate to see Krul go for any price, his heroics and impulse saves alone earned us three points at Spurs.

Those saves could be worth quite a lot come the end of the season.
