Over the last eight games, Rovers have won three. drawn four and lost once. 9 points out of six games in the league; that's play off form, and a draw and a win to get through to the next round of the FA Cup. So despite the formidable list of injuries and the stupid suspensions, things shouldn't feel too bad. The downside is that other teams near the foot of the table have done pretty well recently. eg. I believe Accrington have taken 16 points from eight games, but lost in the Cup. So why do we all feel so despondent about this season? Is it the ugly football that is put on display...........negative tactics.........or are we just not good enough???
Didn't go yesterday, but it sounded like it was a decent performance with a lot of effort and (to some degree) attacking tactics! (still only one up front though!) If the trend continues, as in attacking more, then a lot of people like me will attend more regular - even if the results don't go our way, at least we will have seen a decent game of football. This will lift the atmosphere around the ground and spill over onto the pitch and the players - all round a win/win situation. I know you have to stand by the results in the end and losing is still losing, but there is a way in which you can lose and still get brownie points from the fans! Wasn't going to go next week (Creepies in the cup!) but after yesterdays result and effort I might have to rethink my Saturday!! UTG
the football has been ugly a lot of the time and the tactics has just been way too negative in most games. but we are good enough as its the same players as last season that got us to safety and near a play off push and was in automatic promotion form. these players are good enough. however far too many have been injured and the wage cap has stopped us from getting in players we need. therefore we have been left short in certain areas of the pitch like wingers and strikers. we have a lot of inexperienced youth players getting a lot of game time to help fill in spaces. they have done well but i dont think ward would have used them as much as he has done if the players in the physio room were fit. also our attacking threat is not there. meaning we need to make sure we defend well and in numbers and make ourselves hard to break down and hard to beat and hope we get a goal from a set piece or 1 chance in the game when we do break forward. these tactis are very negative and i dont like it at all. but i can see why ward has played these tactics. if our attacking threat is not there then if we leave ourselves open at the back while trying to attack we will then concede and be unable to get back into the game so wont get any points. if we defend well and hard to break down then we can hold out for a draw and 1 point is better than nothing. so i can see why ward has played teh tactics that he has played. he is waiting for players to return which will give him more options in attack and players to return who he wants out the club which will free up wages to get in players needed to help us progress. i trust in ward. i dont like his tactics but i do understand them. i can see why people want ward out due to the entertainment factor and how poor our attacking threat is and negative we play. but ward to me clearly still has the players playing for him so there is no sign of him losing the dressing room. the players have bought into his way of thinking and understand the situation.
Your going no where and laughable to say you are in play off form 9 points out of a possible 24 how the hell is that play off form or was it that deluded borstal you went to that makes you believe those figures. You make me laugh you lot your staying down there for a long time yet or hopefully may make the conference.
