Oxford's Chairman obviously wants to cover his back if/when something happens and they lose their manager, and the Oxford fans then react and want to find a scapegoat for allowing the loss of Chris Wilder to occur.

What's their problem,if he was to leave, they could always appoint that well respected "Ginger Whinger" Dave 'Barndoor' Kitson to run the club

I think the representatives of PFC have conducted themselfes fairly and appropriately. As MAJR says, its most likely the chairman of OUFC covering his back from a fans backlash..........the scenario they now have as a club is their manager must have wanted an interview with the PFC board to find out what was what...........which means from a OUFC fans point of view, does heir manager want to be there?

Am also surprised at Newport blocking us from talking to their manager, whats the point in that? Surely you want your main man to be there because he wants to be there, not because you have stopped him from talking to another club!

For me, for once, PFC is conducting its self correctly........and I lok forward to a new era with a new boss soon........who ever it is!

Blimey you lot have stirred up a hornets nest with this one!! To say Wilder split the fan base would be an understatement but this has really upset the Yellows faithful. Until this week I would have said 30% of fans idolised Wilder, 30% hated the sight of him with a passion and the remainder somewhere in between, now you either love him or hate him.

Whatever you think of the guy he does talk a good game and IMO he will be offered the job at Fratton Park, whether he will accept it or not will probably depend on whether Lenagan offers him an improved contract to stay with us.

You're right there bornpompey, it's hardly a hive of activity over there.

Most fans use yellowsforum to share their opinions.

Paul Tisdale, the Exeter manager, has emerged as a real contender for the job.

I just want someone who can turn this lot into a team of decent & confident players.

Tisdale would be an excellent choice.

Also Sean O'Driscoll is available - he is used to operating with little money

Certainly Tisdale appears to be a popular choice with the Pompey fans.

There's no indication that SOD has applied. Opinions on him were rather split.

Are you sorry to have lost him as a manager? If you weren't before you will be once Stevie Cotterill, Potty Cotty or Clotterball, as we knew him, gets going.

He does actually listen to the fans, and to be fair he did make the players turn up to fans meetings/award events etc. but he is also incredibly arrogant as well as being a lover of hoofball - some of my most boring days were spent at Fratton Park during his tenure. I'd advise you all to get neck-braces. After he left (which meant he avoided being sacked) the most common comment from the players was 'he's a dick'.

Good luck - I keep an eye on your progress, you seem to have a lot of disinterested players at Ashton Gate you need to get shifted, at least they won't have an easy time with Potty Cotty.

Tisdale has divided the fans at Exeter - some worship the ground he walks on, others have prayed for him to leave. Mainly he seems to have a very poor relationship with the fans.

The thought of Barker coming with his pal Coppell is why his appointment is favoured. If Coppell doesn't come along then there could be a lot of disappointed fans. He also has a poor relationship with the local press...... which he won't get away with at Pompey as they were quite instrumental in the PST takeover of the club.

No Jamo/Herman combo for us - but that was to be expected.

Portsmouth have turned down an application from former Pompey players Hermann Hreidarsson and David James to take over as a managerial duo at the struggling League Two club.

Pompey have been without a manager since the sacking of Guy Whittingham in late November.

Hreidarsson was recently in charge of Icelandic club IBV but left the post this October.

The Portsmouth board have made a seven-man shortlist in search of a successor to Whittingham.

But following talks on Thursday, SportsDirect News has learned Hreidarsson is the latest candidate to have been ruled out.

Portsmouth are understood to want a more experienced figure and plan to choose their preferred candidate by Friday.

The club will then agree a contract over Saturday and Sunday before making their decision public on Monday.

Former Crawley manager Richie Barker is the bookies' favourite to take over at Fratton Park, while Oxford boss Chris Wilder and Paul Tisdale of Exeter are also in the running.

In what was his debut managerial campaign, Hreidarsson led IBV to sixth place in the Urvalsdeild table last season. The Icelandic football calendar runs from May to September.

James made 17 appearances for IBV after Hreidarsson signed his former teammate as player-coach.

Portsmouth are 17th-placed in the League Two table after 19 matches played.

Mark Catlin, chief executive at the club, said former manager Whittingham was sacked in late November because confidence had “drained” from the team.

I think from what I have heard, my choice would be Wilder, based on progress and accomplishment..........but then again, there are names not mentioned yet that have been interviewed...........and there may just be a twist in all this! <whistle>
