Platini has suggested that Sin Bins should replace the current yellow card system:

What does everyone think and could it work? Maybe up it would open up refs to more scrutiny should they get decision wrong and a team go a goal down during a 10 minute period of having 10 men. Don't know whether it is interesting or ridiculous as per his usually spouting.

    Bloody ridiculous idea.

What if loads of players are booked in a short space of time?

I'd rather see it brought in as something to be dished out after a yellow card has already been given. Get a yellow and then commit another small foul? Sin bin instead of a full sending off. Sometimes a red seems quite harsh so maybe it could be added as a new tier of punishment.

Can only see it leading to more time wasting, running down the clock while a player is in the sin bin

Yeah I saw this yesterday! I think this would require a video ref as you could be a couple of players down at a certain time. Refs would be able to change a game in an instant with a stupid red card.

It could potentially interrupt the fluency of a good game, especially early on, we all know that when a team goes down to 10 men they generally just sit back and defend deep, I don't think it would work as Platini as described, maybe it could be incorporated so that the sin bin is only in force in the last 15 - 20 mins of a game.

Would ruin the games every time

Referees need more support as to what is a foul and I think there should be a video replay option

Crap idea. Almost every game you can think of would have been ruined if this had been in place.

**** no. Give refs video support, that's everything they need. The rules are fine if they're conducted properly. Sin bin would ruin football.

If they're talking making any types of changes I think they should allow each team 3 video referrals against decisions, this would then allow the video to be used as a team needs it to be used, should stop the dodgy penalties. If the team use them up too early they run the risk later in the game

FFS. Fifa and Uefa arre just obsessed with change. There never seems to be any reason for it. How is a sin bin a better system?

Get to work on enforcing them properly and clearing up the ambiguous rules. There are some rules which are stupid and need changing. For example you can't appeal a yellow card even if it was completely wrong and means a player misses a massive game through suspension, stupid rule. Make it clear what is a straight red card tackle and what isn't, make it clear what contact is allowed in the area on set pieces and enforce it. There's plenty of things which need changing before we worry about daft rule changes for no reason which achieve nothing.

You ask why Fifa and UEFA are obsessed with change, yet then call for change? Change has to happen, the game will and has to progress, same with everything in life.

And we could also have hotspot and snicko. Use it to determine if there actually was any contact when a player goes down.

They're obsessed with random, unecessary change.

Tournaments no longer held in one place meaning no one can realistically go any more, 24 teams in Euro 2016, Champions League finals on a Saturday...

The game is a great format but just needs some minor tweaks, mainly in enforcing the rules it already has.

This is one of the more ridiculous changes, the events seem less prestigious to who hosts it.
