In all honesty, and I know this may be criticised for this, I've grown to find Martin Allen a bit of a bore now. Don't get be wrong he did wonderful things for Gillingham and at times can be genuinely funny but the sweater vest and saying 'Pellegrini, or whatever his name is' just shows that deep down, Martin may actually just be an attention seeker. Theres nothing wrong with this but I'm just growing tired of it, he deserves great respect for winning the league and giving Gillingham one of the best seasons ever but I do feel like sometimes he does things like this not because he is mad but so he gets people talking.

Sadly MadDog is not has mad as he likes people to believe he is. I always saw through the persona he built himself to make him attractive to the job market. His madness showed flaws as the months went on. He came in and started with the crazy publicized swim at the Strand. He came in and took out favourite players. He ripped the heart out of our youth. All early signs of a madman and living up to his name and one which won us a silver pot. But scratch at the surface...when it went wrong he didn't know how to change it. He stuck with his faithful experienced favourites he bought in and there lay bare his own human weakness, no longer a independent madman because he showed psychological weaknesses, to wear the bright red trousers once is a laugh as the best dressed man at Priestfield but to wear them at Wolves led him to ridicule, he learned the lesson from that day but still failed to change or had he done so much damage of his own making, he couldn't find the way out of his own crazy maze...until Scally showed him the Exit. The self confessed madman frothing at the mouth, knows he can't kill the spider, because like his chequered coloured jumper its the route to his next job. The problem is the rolling eyes reveal he does not have a deep dark crazy soul like a possessed dog but hides a weakness, his mad look is like a game of chequers and easily solved because to play chess requires more foresight of logic. I wonder if he would like to give me a game.

At the time I was furious with Martin Allen's sacking because we had gone up as League Tow Champions last season and had experience our best ever season as Gillingham Supporters ( well last season was my best ever as a Gillingham Supporter, older fans then myself might pick Keith Peacock's spell as Gillingham Manager or The 1999 / 2000 season), we had a tough start to the campaign playing Bristol City, Wolves, Swindon and Brentford in the opening five matches and we hadn't really strengthened the squad so we knew that this season was about staying up.

However as the dust settled you can see the reasoning and why we sacked Martin Allen, and I heard bits and pieces which possibly explained why Martin Allen got the boot, I am not sure if I can post them on the forum as I don't want to get BRB into trouble regarding content.

I would like to see us have a long term managerial appointment though, Martin Allen was Manager for 12 - 16 months, Andy Hessenthaler was manager for two years and Mark Stimson was here for two and a half years, it is hardly surprising to see Leyton Orient and Walsall doing so well and playing fantastic football when Russell Slade and Dean Smith are both in the top fifteen longest serving manager's, they have had time to assemble their squad's and gradually improve, and stability has meant that both these teams have gone from battling relegation to competing for promotion in League One.

FOM - I'm happy for you to post anything you factually know or have heard personally yourself. When i say heard, it needs to be from someone regarded as an official source within the club. However, you need to think of the consequences for said individual who's comments you repeat. I would suggest you don't post anything you heard via a friend, brother, sister etc etc.

Also if an untrue statement is made it could be deemed as libel, that could be untruth from the individual you repeat, hence by posting it into a public domain, then makes you accountable...lol

You can't win my friend and i can't guide you anymore than that...it is your choice.

.....well we all know he is an animal lover! A career as a Pundit will ultimately pay more and last longer than a lower league club manager,
Providing he does not miss the smell of the linament and the roar of the crowd too much.( like Hessie?) Good luck MA
