Just a little old Isthmian league ground that has been made a little bigger since entering league football.

The only decent stand is the away supporters area......the opposite end has no depth to it and will probably hold two to three hundred.

So the main home areas are the mainstand about six rows deep.....plus a smaller standing area opposite...they reckon that they can get 6000 in the ground.

2026 attendance yesterday...a third of them being the greenarmy....there where quite a few Argyle supporters elsewhere as well that wouldn't have been counted in the away figure.

The game was not too much of a classic....the ball spent far too long in the air....with head tennis being quite evident.

Argyle started quite brightly and won a free kick just out from the right edge of the penalty area....Hourihane took the free kick and left the defence completely beaten, the ball slamming against the cross-bar near to the left-hand upright and kindly coming straight to Reid who slammed it into the net.

Expecting D&R to up the tempo in response didn't really happen,..... they continually played wide down the wings with two quick wingers but didn't have much success....until a defensive lapse allowed a hard low shot from their right wing to be tapped in for the equalizer. That was the only time in the whole match that any real noise came from the home support.

Argyles second goal came when the ref allowed play to continue after a foul on an Argyle player....Parsons breaking through on the left and centering for Alessandra to slam it home with ease, 2-1 to Argyle at half-time. Plymouth had most of the first half and should have scored more. One other moment of note in the first half was Banton pulling something and being replaced in the 14th min by Gurrrieri.....hadn't really noticed him involved at that stage.

The second half didn't have too many moments of danger either end to be honest.....and I was surprised to note that D&R's home record was 7-4-4 before this match.....they didn't seem to have much threat up front....or were Argyle actually playing well.

On a whole the team played well...no obvious weak links......Parsons looked ok and did well.......Wotton controlled the defence well and had a good game seeing how long since he last played first team football. Cole didn't really scare anyone and got a cheer everytime he caught the ball. Good to see Morgan get a 10min cameo near the end.

Parsons,Wotton,Reid,Alessandra and Nelson had good games.....my MOM would be Nelson...although any of the others mentioned could have got the nod.

The only fans singing or making any noise where the greenarmy....a bit of a graveyard otherwise.....dread to think what it is like with no away following.

As I've said somewhere else....I feel sorry for Dag & Red....2026 crowd.a third or more the greenarmy.

I came up to Victoria Station before lunch (pub meet) and it was noticeable on the train the amount of Chelsea shirts (early kick off against Everton) and also England Rugby fans going to Twickenham.....on the underground West Ham and Arsenal shirts were evident.

    I mention that because of D&R's poor support.....yesterday in London...Chelsea 41,580.....Arsenal 60,012.....West Ham 33.418 (near).....Charlton/QPR 17,333.....Wimbledon 3,740.....Brentford 11.309 and Leyton Orient 5,091.....so lots of places to go other than Dag & Red.

As I left the ground you could hear the greenarmy singing even ten minutes down the road....D&R fans just walked away and hardly a word of complaint could be heard.....they can always go somewhere else of course......maybe that is why the best and biggest stand is for away fans.....but how many would come down from Hartlepool ?

Crickey plym I didn't know you culd travel that far on your bus pass......

Makes a change to read an away report from you and thank you for it. Bit more comprehensive than the ones we normaly provide. To be honest I can never remember who shot and missed and who didn't 5 minutes after the event let alone several hours later.

Freedom pass is the correct term, I have you know sensible......Buses & Underground 24/7.....Trains after 0930 weekdays.....anytime weekends and Bank holidays.

You need to be fit and able, standing by the Station Ticket Barrier just as 0930 ticks over....stampede is more the correct term.

Someone reckons that with great planning you can do Lands End to John O'groats if you zig-zag all over the place with a Freedom Pass....better man than me if that is true.

That's favouratism with a freedom pass. No underground here so I dip out. Bloody typical one law for the South East and another for the forgotten end of the country. I demand an underground right now....(and I don't mean a sink hole either).

Not sure that was a shot Plymborn, more of a low cross into, what do they call it, "the corridor of uncertainty"?

It's just that Cole's corridor of uncertainty is wider than most.... Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Thanks for the match report, hope you enjoyed the game.
