    Correct.

I'll give you a theory, TS has fell out of favour a bit with Levy. Having recently signed quite a lucrative new deal in his old position not too long before his managerial promotion, it may have cost Levy a bit to get rid. Make TS manager and let him hang himself, had it turned out peachy, its still a win win for Levy.

What Sherwood doing badly, not getting champions league, losing out on the revenue / ability to sign certain players is 'win win' for Levy? Struggling to see that logic.

If TS fuks up as manager he has to go (something Levy might have been trying to do) and that is an easy option, sorry Tim no hard feelings results not good enough. Removing Tim from his previous role in the backroom may have proved difficult without a constructive dismissal claim.

That said had TS been a roaring success, lets just say stuffed you lot and City 4-0, ALL the players fawning over him etc., Levy may well have let him continue. Either scenario, or theory as I originally put, win win for Levy, if you struggle with that i give up! :)

I kind of get your point though it seems an elaborate way to get rid of a member of the back room. He can't be on that much wedge compared to what missing out on C.L would cost.

We've already missed out on CL, its not an issue now, we're used to it, (even 4th isn't good enough sometimes!) unless someone else messes up worse than us. There's stuff been going on behind our scenes that as a fan of another club you would not be remotley interested in. Suffice to say, goon supporting, Spurs basher pundit Tim, pehaps isn't the flavour of the month he once was. He's already said he does not want his old job back if this doesn't work out. Make of that what you will.

reading between the lines i would read this as Sherwood knowing he's already not lasting longer than the summer but he's been told not to out it to the players/press. So he's trying to emotionally blackmail Levy into changing his mind by telling him he's not going back to his old job

There's no way Sherwood would have made those comments after the chelsea game if things behind the scenes were all good. He already knows he's on his bike, hence the dig at the club needing to "get real" over 4th spot. - who would say that, knowing their boss would see it?!
There was obviously a problem behind the scenes when AVB eventually lost his job, and with sherwood being the character he is, my prediction is that whilst a few of those issues might have been sorted (ie Ade) a whole new bunch have arisen.
You have to earn respect and I just can't see how a large number of our players would have given him a chance, as there's this "who are you mate?!" inexperience about him. (as NSIS pointed out in another thread)

He also said in the interview that certain players will have got on that coach on sunday and would have already forgotten about the result, where as he and others won't have. He then said how he knows exactly who he can rely on for Thursday and who he can't.

Sounds to me that there's a new divide amongst the squad (hence why we're probably seeing so much of Bentaleb).

Levy has got to move fast to secure someone new, otherwise it's going to be a summer of upset which could ruin preseason.

Good point, could well be true.

Who are the people he is referring to about not being able to rely on them though, or who will forget the result by the coach? My initial guess would be Vertonghen, but he has played a lot under Sherwood (no alternative?). Another one i guess would be Capoue.
Townsend has also seen less and less game time, which is strange considering he was flavour of the month for a bit and Sherwood called up Bentaleb so readily.
Paulinho also looks disinterested a lot, but again he's been playing, with options for his position.

    I can't work Sherwood out. I can't work Spurs out. I don't think i'm even making sense.

I'm off on holiday on Saturday <ok>

Alas, that doesn't bode well for the Arsenal game as last time i did so (same destination too) we got humped 6-0 by City.
