So we finished 10th..... But would you sacrifice a slightly higher place next season, and remain 10th, if it could mean a good cup run (semi final or final) as well. Or would a prem finish of 7th or 8th mean more.
no-one would have batted an eyelid if we'd plodded along mid table all season, but to be starved of oxygen for a month or two only to wind up staring relegation in the face, and finally fluking 10th, has left people seeing that as not a good place to be. i'd happily take tenth again, if it meant going to wemberly to see the lads in the fa cup, you can't replicate that magic. not the league cup mind, i'd be chuffed if we won it but the fa cup is so much better. and only a final too, i know we'd get to go to wembley for the semis as well but i think that's bollocks, cheapens it.
A great cup run lifts everyone's spirits and raises the profile of the club, so 10th place and a cup final next season? Hell yeah!
What is a "good cup run"? Final of FA cup - yes, I would trade that for maybe 12th. League cup - no. Unless we win it. I would trade that for 10th again and no PL progress. On balance, I want to see PL progress most of all.
PL progress is my priority plus a minimum of FA Cup semi final would be great. The League Cup would be good compensation but only if we won it.
A good cup run this season. Would that mean the 4th round? Cos we've been sh*te in both cups for the last few seasons
This is a difficult decision for me because I have to go to a wedding on April 14 i.e. Cup semi final day . So it would be better for me to go for better league place and for Wolves to reach the Cup semi-final.
Wouldn't be too concerned if we finished 12th or there abouts if it meant a good cup run. A good cup run for me is the final as that would hopefully mean we have a place in Europe. We will be very lucky to get a Europe place via the league so a cup is our best chance. Europe is where we should be looking at, okay we have to rebuild again this season which has got Bruce on the wrong end of some grief (I include myself in that). If we are to move forward as a team European football is the way to do it and not trying to dislodge the top 6 teams in the PL, that would take more money than Ellis Short would dream of throwing at us.
With the Villans and Everton to beat i would want 8th and the FA cup, we do that and SOL WILL BE THROBBING, we need some success
