Hi lads, i'm from Toon Forum and we like to ask opposition fans a set of questions before the match to use in our pre match build up. We appreciate everyone who takes the time to answer the questions. Here they are:

1 – How do you think you’ll line up?
2 – How has Southampton’s season gone so far? Happy?
3 – Who has been the biggest surprise this season for Southampton? Who has disappointed?
4 – Now Cortese has left, are you worried about the ambition of the club? Could we see a few leave in the summer?
5 – Which players do you see being key for both sides?
6 – Where do you think Southampton will finish now?
7 – Where do you think Newcastle will finish now?
8 – Who will finish in the top six? Who will go down?
    9 – Scoreline prediction?
10 – If your football club was a vegetable, what vegetable would it be?

    Thanks in advance!

3 – Who has been the biggest surprise this season for Southampton? Who has disappointed?
Jim Magilton for not being here anymore. Jim Magilton, because he's not here anymore.

4 – Now Cortese has left, are you worried about the ambition of the club? Could we see a few leave in the summer?
    Dunno.

5 – Which players do you see being key for both sides?

1 – How do you think you’ll line up?

If Schneiderlin is fit, put him in our previous lineup in place of Ward-Prowse and that's probably it.

2 – How has Southampton’s season gone so far? Happy?

Great start, okay since. A top half finish was the best we could reasonably hope for at the beginning of the season.

3 – Who has been the biggest surprise this season for Southampton? Who has disappointed?

The centre backs Lovren and Fonte have been magnificent and I don't think anyone expected Chambers to get up to this level so quickly. Osvaldo was disappointing, not on the pitch as much as off it.

4 – Now Cortese has left, are you worried about the ambition of the club? Could we see a few leave in the summer?

Katharina has surprised me with her ambition. While Cortese was here we didn't even know who she was and didn't expect her to care about what was her father's hobby basically. Krueger seems smart and sensible and we appear to be proceeding with the same ambition as before. There will be interest in Shaw, Lallana, Schneiderlin and probably others, but we'll hold on as tight as we can.

5 – Which players do you see being key for both sides?

Lallana for us and whoever is tasked with dealing with him for you.

6 – Where do you think Southampton will finish now?

    8th.

7 – Where do you think Newcastle will finish now?

    9th.

8 – Who will finish in the top six? Who will go down?

Top six as it is. Fulham, Cardiff and West Brom go down.

    9 – Scoreline prediction?

    2-0.

10 – If your football club was a vegetable, what vegetable would it be?

    Parsnip. I dunno why.

1 – How do you think you’ll line up? Same as we always do. Just the personnel change occasionally. Check out a recent match report.
2 – How has Southampton’s season gone so far? Happy? Not 100% happy. I wanted and expected slightly better, but if we finish 7th/8th I'll be satisfied. 5th/6th was what I hoped for.
3 – Who has been the biggest surprise this season for Southampton? Who has disappointed? For me, there has been no one big surprise. Everyone has done there or thereabouts as I have expected. Occasionally the team has disappointed because although they've clearly been superior to many teams, they haven't won several of the games they could. I know several teams could claim this, but we really should have several more points than we currently have.
4 – Now Cortese has left, are you worried about the ambition of the club? Could we see a few leave in the summer? Yes, I am worried, but we'll see how things pan out. Starting to look better than I feared.
No, I don't think we'll see an exodus. I don't even think Shaw will leave, and he's the most likely, in terms of the players we want to keep. There are some coming to the end of their contracts, and they will go. With our blessing for their contributions over the years.

5 – Which players do you see being key for both sides? Ben Arfa and Cisse [if you can get him scoring again] for Toon, and Lallana and Lambert for Saints.
6 – Where do you think Southampton will finish now? 7th or 8th. Sorry.
7 – Where do you think Newcastle will finish now? 9th.
8 – Who will finish in the top six? Who will go down? ManC, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton, Spurs. Relegation candidates - Fulham, Cardiff and Sunderland.
    9 – Scoreline prediction? 2-0
10 – If your football club was a vegetable, what vegetable would it be? Greek Tomato. Deceptive, because it's actually a fruit, and being Greek it'll taste sweet like the kind of football we can play.

1 – How do you think you’ll line up?
Very similar to last week, but hopefully Schneiderlin will be back in midfield to play alongside Corky. Chambers will probably play at RB.

2 – How has Southampton’s season gone so far? Happy?
Very happy with our football this season. In truth, you could count the games where we haven't been the better side on one hand (Chelsea on both occasions, Sunderland away in the League cup, second half vs Liverpool). We deserve to be higher to be honest, but our individual mistakes have continued to halt our progress. Overall, very satisfied.

3 – Who has been the biggest surprise this season for Southampton? Biggest surprise has probably been Rodriguez. It's not that he hasn't had the talent before, but now Pochettino sees him as our top strike player, he has responded with a great season. He works ever so hard, but so do all of our players to be honest. Special mentions to Lallana, Shaw, Chambers and Steven Davis as well.
    Who has disappointed?
Difficult one this as we haven't really had under par performers on a regular basis. I suppose many will say Rickie has been out of form, especially in the last few games, and also Wanyama, as he has been injured and cost £12m. In truth, I couldn't really name a disappointing player.

4 – Now Cortese has left, are you worried about the ambition of the club? Absolutely not. The one man dictatorship couldn't last forever. Board model is much more sustainable. Could we see a few leave in the summer?
Possibly, but that's because some are out of contract. Shaw may go, if he wants, but I don't think any first team players will leave. Poch will also sign a new contract I think.

5 – Which players do you see being key for both sides?
Lallana is our key man for creativity, no doubt, and he is in terrific form. I would say Remy for you, but I don't know whether he will be fit. He is the perfect player for counter attacking away from home. Probably say Sissoko if he doesn't play.

6 – Where do you think Southampton will finish now?
I think we will finish 8th.

7 – Where do you think Newcastle will finish now?
I think you will finish 9th

8 – Who will finish in the top six?
Top six will probably stay the same. United may get in there ahead of Spurs, as I don't think they are that good. But, certainly the top 3 will stay the same.
    Who will go down?
    Cardiff, Fulham, Sunderland

    9 – Scoreline prediction?
Hopefully, we will get the better of this game. Optimistic 3-1 Saints.

10 – If your football club was a vegetable, what vegetable would it be?
Broccoli. No idea why (we have a tree in our crest...)

    Hi

I think you are going to get very similar answers (cbk the exception)

We are all happy bunnies with how the season has gone in the league for us. If someone had said at start of season we would only be 6pts behind Man Utd with 7 games to play we would have taken it.

We are disappointed with our cup runs losing out both times to your arch enemies.

We spent 36 million in the summer on 3 players. The least expensive Lovren has been immense, the other 2 have yet to see the best from Wanyama and unlikely to see much more of Osvaldo. So what has been good to see is the success of the other players, the togetherness and ambition shown and yet more youngsters breaking through. If we have a similar amount to spend this summer and we spend it better as well as keeping our current squad then there is a lot to look forward to next season.

Looking forward to the match and a good atmosphere and a 2-0 saints win.

There is probably no free prize draw for completing your survey so instead i would like to ask a question in return.

Alan Pardew - Is he becoming a bit of a joke?

It looks like its between you and us who finish 8th and 9th.

    1. Same as others have mentioned but with schneiderlin alongside jack cork . Probably chambers in place of clyne.

    2. After a very good start I won't deny that my hopes escalated beyond a reasonable point. Taking a look at the bigger picture I am very content with the season as a whole despite games we really should have killed off.

    3. Jay rodriguez has been brilliant this season and has surprised me as he only scored his first goal in the middle of September. Another mention goes to Steve Davis. Thought he'd be a sidelines player who got the minutes to just see out a game but has been very consistent , a very reliable player . Dani osvaldo has to be the big dissapointment . He has the quality , as his goal against man city shows but his attitude really ended his career here .

    4. When he left I flapped a bit but now I am confident we will be fine , if not more confident. In terms of players leaving , there will be bids , can't hide from that , but we will have roughly the same line up plus two or more new players .

    5. Lallana is mr southampton and makes us tick . Whoever is told to mark him will be key for you.

    6. 8th

    7. 9th

    8. Top six will stay the same . Cardiff , Norwich , Fulham to go.

    9. 3-1 saints.

    10. Carrot. A lot has been going on behind the scenes and in the lower leagues but until pulled out do people realise how we've developed in that time. One of the nations favourites.

1 – How do you think you’ll line up?
    4-4-2. Possibly 4-5-1
2 – How has Southampton’s season gone so far? Happy?
Happy for first half of season, enjoying our pressing and energy but irritated lately at our inability to defend properly.
3 – Who has been the biggest surprise this season for Southampton? Who has disappointed?
I have been surprised by our youngsters such as Ward-Prowse and Chambers coming in and doing well. I have been disappointed by Wanyama as I thought he was a world beater. Osvaldo has also disappointed me enormously just by being such a dick.
4 – Now Cortese has left, are you worried about the ambition of the club? Could we see a few leave in the summer?
I miss Cortese, we've moved on okay since tho. I think our ambition depends if Pochettino signs long term. It's going to be a long summer with all the speculation of our better players leaving so hopefully we'll make a big signing early on to help stop the media stirring.
5 – Which players do you see being key for both sides?
Lovren and Fonte for keeping things tight, Lallana for skills and Lambert for needing shooting boots on. For Newcastle Ben Arfa.
6 – Where do you think Southampton will finish now?
    9th
7 – Where do you think Newcastle will finish now?
    8th
8 – Who will finish in the top six? Who will go down?
Top six is obvious, already set in stone. Bye bye is more exciting: Cardiff, Fulham, WBA
    9 – Scoreline prediction?
    4-4
10 – If your football club was a vegetable, what vegetable would it be?
Watercress - cos it's fast growing and Southern. Sail the Watercress Rail!

    1. We have a rather shallow squad so more or less the the same, Schneiderlin may start if fit and Rickie may come off the bench again but apart from that it'll be the same.

    2. Yes, the first thought always strays to those dropped points and weak performances but sitting comfortably in the top half with a shot (albeit a very slim one) of European football next season on only our 2nd year back in the top flight is a great achievement.

    3. Lallana is the main one. Not really a surprise as such as his talent has always been on display but he just keeps getting better and better to the point were over the course of a season he went from relatively unknown to being a desired starter in the England W/C team by fans everywhere. Lovren, Fonte and Clyne have also impressed alot (Though most of the team deserve praise.)

    4. We haven't seen enough of the new chairman to make a call. I don't think ambition will be an issue but maybe Cortese's dictatorial ways were necessary and will be sorely missed come the transfer window. Like others have said alot depends on getting Pochettino to resign and taking it from there.

    5. Lallana is always key for us and for you its remy (if fit) or one of your powerhouses like sissoko and/or cisse that we need to keep at bay.

    6. 8th

    7. 9th :D

    8. In order; Man C, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Everton with Crystal Palace, Cardiff and Fulham going down.

    9. Sot 3-2 New

    10. A 'Radicchio' because it sounds like a player pochettino will try to sign

Thanks lads. I'm not a Saints fan, despite my location. I used to watch Saints a lot when they were in league 1/championship, but you are becoming a bit too good now! Now I'm forever wanting you to lose. And on Pardew, he is just an unlikable human being.
