Goalkeeper Mark Halstead, 23, joins after being released by Blackpool. Got good feedback about club from Matt Gilks. Signs on a two year deal.

 

I can do rumours (well, facts actually) now - a certain L2 defender was at the club for talks with MM today. Club don't want to let word get out but he has already been linked on B and A

 

Would that be a full back who could be in a summer pudding?

 

It would indeed be the aforementioned former Aston Villa man, ripe for the picking after turning down his recent offer from his club.

 

Also just noticed that Demetriou and Wesolowski aren't on the list at present, which means we do have team of senior players contracted for next season!

Does highlight that we are still a little way from a full squad. If Goldson and Bradshaw sign then I think we're sorted at the back, although it might be nice to see an actual RB come in - but we'll need at least one winger - I would prefer two - and a striker who offers something different, perhaps a bit of pace and quality running with the ball. I'd probably look at a versatile back-up; a McIntyre or Purdie type (although not a centre mid by trade, we're well stocked there) to provide cover in the full back roles and out wide without having to be exceptional. By all accounts we have been in talks with a couple of RBs, though. Depends whether that is as an option should Goldson decline his offer or as a priority target.

 

All quiet on the Connor and Tom front.....any rumours?

 

Connor is supposedly signing for us again and Tom is leaving, whether that is reality is in the pudding

Interesting move for Bradshaw. He did well at the start of last season but then dropped away and never had the benefit of a regular experienced partner as striker. He has some potential (especially in a decent footballing side like Walsall) but I think he will probably be found out as not good enough at that level. I wish him well - it cannot have been easy playing up front in a struggling team for a couple of seasons.
