I've just read on the Echo site that Gus hopes to have 3 new players in by the weekend. This is believed to be Alonso, Vergini and Rodriguez/ The first within the next 24 hours. The Borini deal is obviously dragging on, but does anyone else think that we should set a deadline, (like Keane did with Nugent). Give the player say 72 hours to decide whether or not he is joining us and after that withdraw the offer and pursue other targets. He was good for us last season, but I don't like us pinning all our hopes (and £14m), on someone who doesn't seem committed to joining us . . . . . . . . just a thought.
Would be happy with them 3 in and happy to let the Borini deal find its natural course. Can't buy into the idea that all our hopes fall on the Borini deal, don't think Gus would be that naive we will have other targets, plan B whatever you want to call it.
We should bin going for borini, other places are more of a priority, and also there are better players out there for less than the 14 million mentioned
It doesn't say whether or not they will be loans or permanent. Just a side issue, Gus does say that the longer the Borini deal drags on, the less likely it is that we'll sign him.
heard it all before on this new signings hospital booked seen them at the academy seen them at the airport met them on the train all good fun and banter but I will wait until they have our shirt on. Keep the fun coming its great reading and I am enjoying it.
There is no reason we can't leave our offer to Borini open and still make offers to other players on the basis that we can withdraw an offer to another player if Borini finally accepts to join us. Cover all areas.
Which is exactly what we'll be doing ........ there's over a month of the transfer window left and all kinds of things will happen.
be very happy if it turns out to be Alonso Vergini and Rodriguez. would be a good start but still got a lot of hard work to do
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet hopes he can sign three players by the weekend after becoming frustrated by a lack of new faces. Costel Pantilimon, Billy Jones and Jordi Gomez moved to the Stadium of Light on free transfers at the start of the summer but, since then, Poyet has failed to bolster his squad. The Sunderland boss is thought to be pursuing last season’s loanees Marcos Alonso and Santiago Vergini, as well as Cristian Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid, and he hopes to make signings quickly as the Black Cats prepare to head to Portugal for a pre-season tour. I think there will be at least one in by tomorrow and I hope at the weekend we can have three in. “But the word I’m saying is ‘hope’. It’s a matter of time, but, as the days go past, that becomes difficult. "We are waiting, we are desperate to do something in the next few days because we are going to Portugal and we need to have as many players as possible in place by the time we get there." Gus Poyet “We are waiting, we are desperate to do something in the next few days because we are going to Portugal and we need to have as many players as possible in place by the time we get there.” Borini hope Liverpool accepted the Black Cats’ £14million offer for Fabio Borini last week and Poyet has not given up on landing the striker, who is with the Reds on their US tour and appears to be inclined to remain at Anfield. He added: “I think we need to be honest. The more time that goes past, it looks to me like we have less chance. “Some people think the opposite. The more players Liverpool sign, then there is more chance. Let’s see who is right and wrong. “We’ve got specific targets and it’s taking a little bit too long. We have time for one or two specific players, but the rest, we don’t have time. “We don’t have a left-back. We need a left-back now. We need pace, which we have been looking for for the last year. “We need a couple of midfielders too after we lost Craig Gardner, Jack Colback and Ki. There are things we need to do. It will be a real shame if we go through this week and those players are not right.” But Poyet confirmed Marseille winger Morgan Amalfitano, who spent last season at West Brom, is not among his possible targets. He said: “Right now, I will say there is not a real interest in Amalfitano. “I followed him when he was at Lorient before he went to Marseille, so I know the player from four years ago. “It was nice to see him in England playing last season. But in that position, we’re looking for a second striker – which will hopefully be Fabio Borini – and pace, whereas Morgan has more ability on the ball.”
Just saw this on FB it could be s**te but ya never know @danwhitepr Jack Rodwell was talking to Sunderland today & looking round the club. He has to accept it is time to leave Manchester. ‪#‎safc @SAFCElvis Jack Rodwell at ‪#‎safc‬ today for talks apparently. Hmm interesting one.
I'd like Rod, think he has a lot to prove and needs to get his career going again. Talented and young, big and strong. Would be a good buy at a reasonable cost
