Would make sense if we moved for him, he'd very much fit in with the way Gus has us playing. He's never been prolific but last couple seasons he's been a more than regular goalscorer, he has a fantastic first touch, and he is a very clean striker of the ball. What might interest Gus is that he often comes deep or drifts wide looking for the ball, he grafts and runs off the ball, really good movement. I wouldn't say he was top drawer, but he'd be a very sensible signing, he'd offer plenty. Physique wise, quite similar to Fletch.
There are similarities, but I'd say Jonas is more of a striker, I honestly see Borini's career being as a wide forward, he's a tidy enough finisher but he doesn't make enough runs when he's central to ever be a top,top striker. I think Jonas would outscore Borini, Borini will be a better player long term though, Jonas is already 30 I think, thereabouts.
Him or Abel Hernandez.... 30 year old or 23 year old Similar goal scoring record Would go for Hernandez tbh
I would too, but Palermo have said Hernandez will not be sold, and their owner is a proper Levy like bastard. He sells when HE wants.
Been reported in a few articles a club is in talks with him, which suggests the fee has been agreed already
Don't think we need another out and out striker. Borini in when he eventually joins and that should (and I think will) be it
There are reports coming out of Spain that Deportivo La Coruna have pulled out of the race to sign Valencia forward Jonas. The newly promoted La Liga along with Sunderland have been linked with the former Brazilian international in recent weeks. Super Deporte have reported that the Spanish side have been priced out of move to sign Jonas in this transfer window. The club only have a budget of around €14m to spend this summer and therefore it is unlikely they can afford to bring in the player. Jonas himself will be looking for a salary of around €1.8m a season and Valencia are looking to get a transfer fee for the forward before he is able to leave on a free transfer in just under 12 months time. The directors of Deportivo La Coruna have told the Spanish press that they were keen to bring Jonas to the club but it now seems impossible. This will come as encouraging news to Sunderland who have already put in a bid for the player. We recently covered the story that Jonas would be holding talks with the Valencia hierarchy once he returned from holiday. The player is due sit down with this agent and Valencia officials to discuss the proposals that have come in for him. It has been claimed that bids have come in from Premier League clubs with the latest being from Sunderland. Jonas looks surplus to requirements with Valencia after he was excluded from the club’s pre season matches last week and was made to train with the Valencia youth team. Another big plus for Sunderland is that he is due to granted an Italian passport meaning they wouldn’t have to apply for a work permit for him to play in England.
