I was pointing out that 12m was a bargain for Wanyama. :D

    Meltdown!
Good performance, we'll only get better also. Just awaiting a 'Got a hard on in the tunnel #YWNA #boner' tweet from Lovren now.

Hey, look, I was expecting us to get stuffed today, but we showed pride, fight and no little skill against a champions league team.

Wanyama was huge. JWP is starting to make RabbitSpectrum look really silly, and Tadic showed that he could be special.

A really proud Saints fan today.

Hold my hand up and say I was fearing a stuffing today. How completely wrong. Play like that all season and we'll do very well.

Although I said that after England lost to Italy...

I actually think Skrtel would've got to that Long header anyway. But still disappointing.

Decent enough. Pelle, where do I start? He looks like an awful buy. Needs to improve tenfold in all departments. Fingers crossed that he can. And long has used up his let him off with that miss on his debut. Jwp looked decent in the middle, isgrove looked like he could make a difference coming off the bench. Midfield were good as a whole. Yoshida was ok but will get found out an awful lot, so hope gardos is good. Shame not to get a point but overall a fairly positive start. Great goal by clyne as well

In all fairness the negative people were questioning the striker signings, and I don't feel that either have disproven the doubters today. Pellè didn't really get involved for the first 60-70 minutes and long missed an absolute sitter.

Impressed with tadic - needs to work on his final ball but the one time he got it right we scored. JWP improved throughout, once we started getting balls into his feet we improved. He was pressing and getting so tight to people in the first half that when we won the ball he had no space. Something to work on for him, as we missed lallanas ability to steal a yard and get the ball down in the opposition half.

I'm beginning to love the way he does what he does. Still not sure I'd call what he does "playing football", but today his passes didn't go astray either, so maybe he is more than a wrecking ball after all.

So proud of Saints today. Written off completely, and we just never stopped today. That second half was superb, and there were so many positives. What a goal for one, and Tadic looked really creative. The midfield 3 of Morgan, Davis, and the immense Big Vic, ran the show. Also impressed with Bertrand at LB.

    Pelle didn't do a thing.

Lambert changed the game when he came on.

Buy of the season at just £4m!

Yoshida was fine today. Not at fault for either goal and won some good tackles. Give him a break.

    Haha fair enough.

I am excited about the new season now though. 3 points awaits if we play like that next weekend.

Pelle looked terrible out there, really worried about where our goals will come from now. Other than that, we definitely grew into the game.

We looked a bit lackluster on the right for most of the game, with JWP coming very central all the time. He still looked very bright with what he did, but a new out and out winger would do wonders.

Bertrand looked very shaky at first but then looked okay as the game went on.

I'm not so worried about this season now, but hopefully it isn't downhill from here...

Your comments in Pelle I disagree with. First half he couldn't get in touch with the pace (in his first ever premier league game) and hardly won a header. However in the second half, he was more mobile, he won more headers than he lost and his hold up and link play were much better. Our goal came from him dropping off the CB early in the move. Give him some games to get used to the pace and I think he'll do ok. I agree he didn't shine as the others did, but he certainly did much better in the second half. ...

... In his first premier league game.
