.... but I don't care, I thought V-Joe, Amsterdam, Billy, Comm and a few others might appreciate it on a peaceful Sunday evening. It just amazes me that a bloke from a little Worcestershire village, with modest education, could write something like this. I find it incredible that a few bits of wood & beaten metal can create such a moving sound ......... ......... on Remembrance Sunday I can keep it together until those cymbals clash and then my eyes mist up. It surmises an area of life that is deep in the heart for one's that were lost, survived or still here to tell the tale.. We have different enemies now in the way of 'out of control' Islamic Militants, a Super Power', sort of taking the piss, Israel, moving the goalposts and EBOLA....the biggest threat of all..
It's a killer for me mate ........ I grit my teeth so hard on Remembrance Sunday that my head hurts. I can keep myself together until Nimrod sneaks up and gets me
Eddie Elgar, used to get in the Bell Inn, Broadheath, for a few on a Friday night. Well known for belting out a few songs on the piano when he was pissed, Nimrod, Pomp & Circumstance & other singalong favourites
I have tramped the Malvern Hills in the footsteps of Edward Elgar many a time in my youth on family holidays. When Father was cremated we played Nimrod for him. Great composer.
There's Upper Broadheath, Lower Broadheath & Broadheath .... ... strictly speaking the Bell Inn is in Broadheath, not Lower Broadheath Elgar was born in Lower Broadheath which is technically the parish.
We had his music played often at our school. Has mentioned to smug we have his statue at the end of the high street in Worcester.
That must have been very moving mate and a fitting tribute ......... the Malverns are wonderful, walked many a mile through them.
