Apparently he is already in Swansea to have his medical.

Hopefully he will be the real deal. He's got all the credentials being a first team Argentinean international! And hasn't got much pressure with Ash to keep him disciplined. The problem is now, does he take Amat's place. Personally I think he should earn his place, can't justify dropping Amat after Saturday! What a headache for monk to have!

I think that's right, Norway. Fernandez is unlikely to be fit right away, not match fit anyway. But I can't see us paying that amount to leave him on the bench, and Amat will be backup imo.

He was injured after the world cup and has done very little pre season so definntlry wont be for for a few weeks. I reckon he may make the bench for Chelsea.

It puts us in a win win position as Amat was outstanding Saturday. Amat, Bartley, Ash and Fernandez gives real strength in depth in the CB area now.

BBC radio Wales said earlier that he had his medical yesterday and that the deal should be finalised today <party>

I don't think things work like that, Breezy. An unfit player can be a liability.

Agree. 20 minutes against Burnley and WBA should help bring him up to speed.

If he is match fit, try him against Rotherham.

Even if he isn't quite up to speed it's the perfect game for him to get at least 45 minutes under his belt.

Not sure I would be putting on for 20 unless we are winning comfortable. 1. Not yet fit. 2. He hasnt played a minute with any of our players to get any sort of understanding, surely we dont take that chance in the PL. Rotherham is surely the game to give him time on the pitch and build from there.

Burnley and West Brom are a perfect set of games to get Fernandez up to speed adam . Were not talking about Fernandez taking on a Pratley type role or streaking up the wings , he's a CB and his fittness is not as much a priorty as other positions ...just an opinion.

If his fitness is off then he won't be playing for a while but that's understandable. We're a top flight Club and we don't put unfit players into games even those in the cup. But if he's fitter than we think he should figure almost right away.

I expect us to be a few goals up by the 70th minute so it would give him the opportunity then.
