Honestly, we need to stop talking about this. Nobody's going to change their position. Some of us will continue to be reasonable, while other will continue to put the boot into the board at every opportunity for not being able to stop the inevitable.

I think with every player that we have signed they have mentioned that Koeman was a big part in them signing. Good to hear that players also say it in private as well. Very encouraging.

I think you need to start realising that what seems reasonable to you might not seem reasonable to someone else. You see some people as just trying to put the boot into the board at every opportunity, but those people might see you as so determined to convince yourself that everything is okay that your reason is partially suspended.

It's a two way street, lads.

There are some great comments under that article, well worth ploughing through. I particularly enjoyed Confucious' contribution:

No way did the board (specially Kat) deserve the stuff said by some posters on here. Yes people have different opinions but I found the whole asset stripping and the "Kat is killing her dads dream" ****ing disgusting. So many people were jumping on the asset stripping rubbish this forum got crazy. It made one or two posters look like idiots tbh.

If it makes sense to them then let them express it. I don't think it's true but we might as well acknowledge and discuss the possibility. There's nothing more annoying than the Positive Police who attempt to quash any mention of any possibility that a situation isn't totally fine. Let people speculate.

So, you are saying it's OK for some people to express discontent at the board, but it isn't OK for other people to refute those arguments? No, I didn't think you were. After all, as you say, it's a 2 way street, "lads".

"We might as well acknowledge and discuss the possibility" = agreement and disagreement are okay. There's a big difference between disagreeing with someone's opinion and just trying to suggest their opinions aren't even valid and have no place here.

And please drop the attitude pal.

Why would you pick on Joe's post that's directly disagreeing with that mindset rather than the earlier one which said exactly that there's only one form of responsible thinking?

I think we can agree on that, anyway.

But I don't think I want to be lectured on my "attitude", thanks Joe.

If you are going to post you have to be willing to accept not every one will agree with you and have a right to responed to your post. The asset stripping stuff was ok( as no one knew anything for certain) but did go way over the top with some of the personal abuse to Kat.

Selling hope? Naw. I would say he was much more Machivellian than inspirational in his approach. Not that the former can't be effective.

He was a good power broker. He treated the players like kings as he considered them an important asset (whether for the club or for himself, I won't judge). If you're the guy who gets to play in the new training facility, you think Cortese was great. If you were one of the contractors who built it, or maybe the employee who has to clean it, probably your thoughts on NC are not so hot.

As for the point people make about Saints being fiscally stable, sure. But that doesn't mean that Cortese's firing/forced resignation was wrong. If someone's philosophy seems too risky or unsustainable, then you nip it in the bud BEFORE the books are in the red. I don't know if there ever would have been a point where Cortese would ever say "Okay, we've spent quite a lot. Now it's time to pull back a bit and replenish the coffers." Or a point where Cortese would say "Yeah, we've reached the top. I need to stop treating certain people like **** and being such a perfectionist and demanding total control."

It was always going to be a roller coaster ride with that guy. I wouldn't blame KL in the slightest if she felt like things were slipping out of control and didn't feel like going all-in with NC.

<laugh> Thanks for the reasoned argument. My point was that by labelling people who defended the board's actions as the "Positive Police" you were effectively doing what you accused them of, i.e, suggesting their opinions aren't even valid.
