Nice that Wenger replied to the fan although it feels like his mission is to spread his propaganda.

We ALL know we aren't going for the 40M player and although we might want to that's not our main concern it's that we waste money on so many average players and fail to spend the exta 2-3M to secure the key players we desperately need.

Also, great that we did beat both United and Barca but we were also the ONLY side to play both of them!!!

Newcastle got 4 points off last season, doesn't make them better than us.

I went back over the last 5 seasons and Wenger made the same comments at the last game of the season...
*We did well
*We had injuries
*Defence wasn't good enough
*We will strengthen

Yet since we last won the league our defence has actually weakened.

Stop patronising us Wenger and make the changes the team is crying out for.

Plus maybe consider doing what EVER OTHER CLUB IN THE WORLD DOES and bring in some new coaches!! Mourinho and Ferguson know the importance of decent coaches backing you up where as Wenger is such a control freak he can't even bring in a defensive coach to help out.

It's a bit aggravating that he replied to a person who thinks spending loads of money will automatically make us champions but fair play to him for doing so.

Fair play to Wenger for coming out and taking the time and effort to reply to an individual fan. It would have been too easy to simply have dismissed it or given Wenger's undoubted busy schedule, claimed he didn't have time to do so.

There's nothing in that letter that I don't agree with. Yes we're all frustrated and impatient, and we need to strengthen, but we shouldn't go over the top and claim there is a crisis.

Given the last five or six years at Arsenal FC, the stadium move, the end of the invincibles era, trying to compete with billionaire owners etc. We have done remarkably well to stay in the top 4 and play champions league football every season. For those of us who've been supporting the club pre Wenger / Graham, we know that this is a great achievement. Had we had someone else in charge, we could have been fighting it out with Spurs and Liverpool for 5th and 6th or worse.

I think Wenger deserves a lot of credit for his honestly, humility and courage to steer this club in the right direction without bankrupting it in the process, the fact that he is willing to engage on a personal level with fans to explain this is commendable <applause>

That letter is such bollocks. It looks like it's cobbled together from various Wenger interviews recently. What a crock of ****.

Yeah it's basically a press release which they have passed off as a letter to a fan (not saying it wasn't genuinely sent to the fan, but it was clearly done with the intention to release it publically).

If this is a genuine reply then fair play to Arsene.

The man obviously cares about the Club.

The thing that concerns me about Wenger is his stubborness and reluctance to change/adapt.

At the end of the 2006/2007 Season (having conceded 35 league goals) Wenger said this: “If you analyse the season I would say yes it has been my worst. We are 22 points behind the leader so I cannot say I did everything perfectly. I have to stand up and say I am responsible for the fact that we didn’t fight for the championship. defensively we were not good enough".

At the end of the 2009/2010 Season after conceding 40 league goals Wenger said this: " We conceded too many goals to win the title. We will have to fix the problem".

So now at the end of the 2010/2011 having conceded 43 league goals Wenger has come out and said: “We have shown that we have the technical ability to win the league but not the defensive solidity to do it. We have learned that we have the quality, despite what everybody is saying, but of course we need to gain some strength in some areas of the team".

The question is wether Wenger is going to try and improve our defensive personnel and if he will get caught up with trying to be an economist and miss out on all his first choice defensive targets again.
