Am I making this up in my head, or did Taarabt say when he joined AC Milan that he'd wasted the last 3 years of his career??

I'm pretty sure I read the quote, did anyone else? If so can anyone find the quote, need to settle an argument with a particular prick.

    Thank you

You should know by now not to believe half (at least) of what you read. We wasted a great talent by not getting the best out of him.

This really is his last chance to do it for us at the top level, if he puts the effort in all will be forgiven...

Adel Taarabt will be a QPR star this season, says chairman Tony Fernandes

Tony Fernandes has backed forgotten man Adel Taarabt to be the surprise package in the Premier League this season and help keep QPR in the top flight.

Midfielder Taarabt was sent out on loan to Fulham and AC Milan last season and he was hoping to secure a permanent move to the Italian giants this summer.

However, AC Milan refused to meet QPR’s £6million asking price for the midfielder and Fernandes is now expecting big things from Taarabt, who has been brought back in from the cold for the past two games.

The QPR chairman said: “I think Adel will be a surprise for many this season. He’s focused and wants to stay at QPR. He can turn games around in a few minutes, so it’s important to have him.

“He is happy to be here. He was the best player at Burton Albion last week [in the Capital One Cup], even though we lost.

“Like many people who wrote off Joey [Barton] — and he was key for us last season — Adel is going to be something special.

“People have forgotten him a little bit but he can do extraordinary things. At AC Milan last season he was quite special.”

Fernandes also believes midfielder Niko Kranjcar will contribute a lot more to the cause this term, having re-joined the club on loan for a second season from Dynamo Kiev.

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth player looked sluggish in the Championship last term but Fernandes said: “Niko has worked on his fitness, he has lost a lot of weight and is raring to go. He brings a great spirit into the dressing room, he knows us and is glad to be back.”

Kranjcar took a 65 per cent pay cut to move to west London and he admitted: “I did [make sacrifices] but it’s not something I need to elaborate on. The most important thing in life is to be happy and I will be happy at QPR and in the Premier League.

“I want to prove that once again that I can give a couple more good years in the Premier League. Those are the motives why I came.”

One Rangers player not so happy with QPR manager Harry Redknapp is Danny Simpson, who was stunned to be sold to Leicester City at the weekend.

Simpson was a first-team regular during QPR’s successful promotion campaign and he started the first game of the season against Hull.

But Simpson has been moved on to make room for Juventus right-back Mauricio Isla, who has moved to Loftus Road on a season-long loan in view of a permanent deal.

Simpson said: “I was quite surprised when Harry Redknapp pulled me into his office and said Leicester had made an enquiry and that he was happy to let me go.

“I had enjoyed a good pre-season and was ready to hit the ground running in the Premier League, so it was a little bit of a shock after the year I’d had.

“I thought about what he said and decided I wanted to play for Leicester City and improve my opportunity for first-team football.

“Harry’s brought in a lot of players, so you have to respect his decision. However, I am ready to push on with Leicester now and work as hard as I possibly can.”

I wonder if Harry agrees with Tony? Personally I'm delighted Adel is in the squad and even more if he can reinvent himself.

Adel is wearing our beloved hooped shirt, so while that continues, all in the past must be put aside, and I hope he delivers for us.

He certainly did waste two years of his career with us. Because he turned in to a a lazy fat prick. It is in his hands now. Going Adel do something amazing.

:emoticon-0104-surprThey've stuck him up front as a striker. Kind of allows him to shirk defensive responsibilities and concentrate on being a flash f*cker when he needs to be/feels like it. Till January, it could just work?...

Adel needs to mature mentally and get that chip off his shoulder. There is no denying the skill he has and the joys he gave us during our Champ winning season.

If he wants to move then put in some of your best displays in the shop window (playing for us). If or when the penny finally drops for him then it's a win win for all party's.

He helps keep us up and shows the world what he can do. His price goes up etc.

I just hope the Adel saga has a happy ending for us, who knows.

    Tony says "Adel, blah, blah,blah"

Well he is going to say nice things, isn't he.

He's hardly going to say "We've been stuck with the bugger ..."

His true feelings probably lie somewhere between the two.

Get off that fence and tell us what you really think queensland.

I happen to agree somewhat. I am totally unimpressed with his attitude but am willing to give him the benefit of doubt and support him should he put a shift in and look like he actually gives a toss.

He might have looked at some of the signings we've brought in and others we're trying to sign like Defoe and thought he could actually have a good season.

    The lazy fat prick

Why not? Adel is with us till January at least, if he doesn't get on the wrong bus.

I do think he would have a nuisance factor by being left up front. His touch and ability to hold on to a ball would give others a chance to join him. Also means he's further away from our goal when he gives it away cheaply as we know he can do on occasion. This is assuming his attitude and application are there.

A divisive figure as always. He has been disrespectful to QPR in the past, and was obviously keen to be somewhere else but lets be honest, who wouldn't be a tempted to stay put if playing for one of the top clubs in Europe? All that is in the past now, and has to be forgotten otherwise we will be stuck with stroppy Adel, and I'd far rather see the brilliance of Adel that we all know is there.
