My take on the game : i missed the opening goal - par for the course - late as usual - although i tried great bit of skill from AJ for equalisier Tottenham bossed us to bits - hit the woodwork missed the second spurs goal - par for the course - late as usual - i blame the bar staff spurs hit the woodwork again - tbf we could have been about 1-5 down by this point ref lost the plot after a succession of pityfull decisions, danny rose and pva ones spring to mind on the other hand thought spurs should of had a penner ref completely lost the plot and had a vendetta in the last fifteen minutes after we pointed out he was **** an equalisier i didnt see coming tbh, i thought spurs were gonna wrap it up but fair play, we got a point, spurs are a quality side and will be in the top 6 no doubt, we could have and probably should have been beaten today. the signs are promising though, rodwell looked class, alvarez has a great touch (no pace like) catts was immense again, vergini needs to figure out where the **** he's supposed to be. all in all, we'll get better with each match imo - feeling positive
Buzzing with a point. Spurs are a top class side and showed it. Utterly fantastic result, few issues, but hardly worth the mention at this time. I'm off out on the piss if you don't like it suck my plums mother ****ers... Did I mention a great point?
Was a bit surprised at the crowd mind, Spurs brought cracking numbers, but most of the upper bowl was sparse to say the least. That said, my sneck is glowing red here so maybe for the best for some...
Was dissent but he had right to be angry as he got penalised for simple. Strength. Something I saw Adebayor do at least 4 times today and he got penalised. Re the pens. I think at least 2 of your defenders have some Sunderland shirt with them so swings and roundabouts IMO. Spurs are the best team I've seen at all this season mind and we got a point in a game where you really should've killed us off and paid for being a little complacent
I know its only for games into the season but I' wouldn't have predicted this at the end of today (apart from Chelsea) Chelsea 4 9 12 Aston Villa 4 3 10 Swansea 4 3 9 Southampton 4 5 7
I thought Spurs were very good today, very strong central midfield. I though Dembele ran the show. However we did fight and scrap. I thought Wickham did well in the middle. He had a tough scrap and caused them problems. Much better than fletcher. Alverez will take time to adjust, fouls he would have gotten I. Italy he didn't get here. The biggest plus for me was our strength from off the bench.got us back in the game. Gomez can make a pass, Buckley looked lively as did Giacc' think giacc' has earned a starting birth.
I think we'll beat Burnley, and if we then step back and look, it'll have been a very solid start. I'd throw all of the attack minded midfielders in the mix and gun for them.
Taking the effort and level of play towards the end, why was that not the team to start? While it is nice to change players for tactical reasons our attacking level was raised significantly. If not for Catts we would have been swamped. As a matter of interest, after 15 mins the stats read: Spurs 70-30 possession; 7 shots on goal to our 1. Midfield needs some serious thought about players.
Was a bit baffled at the time as to how Lloris & Rose never stopped AJ's goal, makes sense after seeing the replays! Great feet mind but absolute bobbler.
We reverted to hoofball. Tottenham attacked our back 4 which resulted in someone banging the ball over the half way line and then getting picked off. They totally bossed us in midfield and created many chances to score in the final third. Basically everyone needs to sharpen up for Burnley. Larsson was gritty in the first half, as was Johnson, then Cattermole drove the line forward in the second. Alvarez and Rodwell offered relatively little. Wickham was hit and miss and our back four -bar Wes Brown, were poor. Let's hope we're a work in progress.
