Parachute money means nothing for Cardiff if they fail FPP this season, they'll be out of money as Tan will never pay the fine.

They are a farce of a club, I mean you couldn't make up this car crash of a club if you tried, going to be a long hard season for them, and no way are they coming straight back up, thank goodness too!...............<ok>

They have made a film about how to go from a jack to a king all about how a small club rose from the ashes to become the most successful small club in history...So cardiff should make a film about how to be a s**t small club from 1927 - 2014 that turned blue into red that lost it's identity to become the first Capital city club in history to become a laughing stock in world football......;)

If pulls is smart he will give Cardiff a wide birth. The point about ffp is a good one and sooner rather than later it will catch up with them.

The key decision to not take a cva a few seasons back will be the undoing of them IMO . They will screw people over financially sooner or later anyway so should have swallowed what little pride they had back then and protected the long term future of the club.

Tan is a smart guy and al of this will come down to not losing personal wealth and saving face. If he can avoid both he'd be doing very well.

Some players are understood to be on massive wages and the gamble to get promoted back is a massive one which will need more millions to ensure.

If pulis takes the job he may well pull it off but it's going to be a massive roll of the dice for him and also tan.

With sacking season on the horizon pulis may see a better option at prem league level, I'm also not sure how many of ole s signings would fit into TP 's mould.

It's a massive job to take on with as much trouble off the field as on it, surely any sensible manager would give it a wide birth irrelevant of the money on offer.

Perfect viewing for a swans fan though ! ...<laugh>

I suspect he is already suffering from loss of "face",Norway,as is possibly evidenced from his lower than usual profile.
Cardiff's rapid decline after their promotion has ensured that.
He would have been cock of the walk, and preening himself daily,as a result of Cardiff achieving Premier League status.
Having lived/worked in South East Asia,I can attest to this necessity of retaining "face".
Vanity rules, especially among the successful businessmen.
I also suspect he is now a very angry, and humiliated man.
Cardiff City had better look out.

Agreed Lib. Having travelled a lot in Asia 'face' appears to be everything. It's how you appear to others is important and part of Asian culture. Tan has ignored the pleas from his family to get out of Cardiff for a long time and won't want to be seen as backing down, thus proving they were right. I still think he will royally shaft them but the question is when.

You could have 5 yrs parachute money it won't make much difference if you keep spending will it ?

The idea of the payments is to give clubs the required time to re adjust to outgoings like wages etc, you've built a stand and signed more players on equally high wages, granted not as much as caulker but still premier league money, throw in an 8k drop in attendance, drop in advertising and mmerchandising, interest payments on the debt and that money is easily swallowed up .

It's clear to see that cardiffs business model is geared for prem league and nothing else, hell, you were operating on a prem level money wise before you even got up !

Tan is worth about a billion quid, I can never see him giving 100m of it away, that's a massive lump of cash for a man/club who isn't even liked by it's fans .

Good to see you on here Norway. Miss both yourself and Ivor's regular contributions. I was reading this site and enjoying your posts for about a year before I posted anything.

Unless Cardiff City come up trumps with the next manager they do appear to be deep in the **** no matter what they do from here.
Like you say, I can't see Tan writing off that sort of cash.
Fascinating to watch over the next couple of years, thank **** it's not us <laugh>

Mehmet Dalman:-

"Ken Choo introduced himself to us. He’s an accountant by profession, is Vincent Tan’s personal appointment and said he had full executive powers at the club. Ken talked us through the present financial situation. Our income this season will drop from £80m to £40m and there have been and will be cuts to the budget and like all clubs we must adhere to the financial fair play rules. We are likely to see more players go out on loan so that the wage bill is kept under control. Mehmet Dalman added that things look ok for this season but that if do not get promoted then the club will be in serious financial difficulty."
