His racecraft also is much improved though. His tyre shredding days are well behind him and he has learnt to win by 2secs, rather than **** or bust to try and lap the entire field. He is a better driver, dare I say it, he has learnt from past mistakes.
Lewis Hamilton is likely to become the most successful British racing driver ever and rightly so, his current form is absolutely the best I've ever seen and I've seen em all, the problem is can this supreme level of expertise be maintained, it only requires a tad of adversity or misfortune to lose it, as Tiger Woods has proved, sadly once it's gone it's gone and it's virtually impossible to recover, ask Tiger or Man U. I know the Mercedes car is the best on the grid, but it still has to be driven to be effective, Rosberg can drive but loses the edge only because Hamilton is the supreme controller, his feel for what's happening with the car is beyond belief. See Cosi's eloquent reasoning on the matter a few post's back. Rosberg subconsciously concedes that Hamilton is the better man, because he is !!
Only just managed to catch up with the highlights. Some great racing in the midfield, especially Alonso, Button and Vettel, who continue to showcase their racecraft. Excellent work from Hamilton, whose victory looks more and more assured with each passing race (and seems set up to be taken from him by double points, going by the way of the world) A little overzealous with the stewarding I felt but then again I'm glad we have those little five-second penalties now - less drama.
I think that's harsh. For sure Rosberg has greater awareness than Massa (perhaps why Massa keeps getting collected by midfield cars this season), but Hamilton's racecraft has improved significantly. He's no longer carelessly losing his front wing turning in too early, or tangling himself up in impossible, desperate moves like the one at Monaco. Instead he's prepared to play the long game and wait for an opportunity, or craft one.
Hamilton has sanded his rough edges essentially. Unstoppable. And I say this as not one of his best fans. Brazil thread up tomorrow.
I agree with this, Hamilton has matured into a thinking driver and has been brilliant so far. Previously he used to be a bit gung-ho and would ruin his own race.
I'm hoping he can keep it together for just two more races... I know Hamilton won't be a massively popular winner among many, but he deserves the title way more than Rosberg IMO. He's been the better of the two across the whole season.
Its really good to see the non Hamilton fans appreciating how Lewis has raced this season and also realizing that the Lewis Hamilton of 2011 is no more instead we still see the raw talent that saw him finish above a double world champion in 07 but has now become more rounded charecter , speed when needed and thought when required. I do feel a bit sorry for Nico who has been told that he can beat Lewis by cerebral means as most think Lewis is still not that smart but 2014 has seen Lewis hit 10 wins racing a guy who put the great Schumi to the sword three years in a row and is on par with Lewis when it comes to speed. ate As for Miggs what can we do to help this character who we have been telling that his idle was being made to look better than he really was/is due to the Newey slingshots and a average team-mate, and now the smiling Aussie has usurped the number 1 position at Red Bull with the result beeing banishment from the Red Bull team, i would not like to hear about Miggs doing anything silly. Miggs if you ever need words of comfort ill be here for you.
I think it's really good to visit a forum which doesn't belittle or goad its membership â even by accident. Thankfully, one of the great things about this place is that such accidents have become few and far between, with most people recognising the dangers most of the time. Differences of opinion are essential to the existence of a forum. On the other hand, if everyone agreed with every opinion of everyone else, would anyone bother expressing any view, knowing everyone already held the same view? Every member's view is valid and enriching â and that very much includes Miggins.
My mate Migg's has a unique and consistently linear mindset, that said however, our views tend to coincide on occasion, therefore I am the one with the continuously variable or analogue thinking, very useful in my chosen career as an engineer.
Oh dear indeed! Merc's with their power and downforce advantage should still be firm favs for the win. Redbull always do well here and in those conditions, I can see them being Mercs nearest challengers, like Japan, the Williams may struggle and these conditions could give the likes of Button and Alonso to shine..
Miggins has a forthright and sometimes aggressive way of expressing his opinions and I'm sure he has no problem with others responding to him in a similar manner. That has generally been my own experience with him, anyway: fair's fair. Back on topic, I'm even more excited about Brazil now that I've seen the weather forecast; shame it's only on Sky though.
If it's wet all weekend then how much running will teams do? I think they only have 3 sets of wet tyres available to them all weekend, FP1 and FP2 could be a bit boring.
