Last night my mate remarked "they have two subs warming up that cost more than our team"

It's like if we were playing a team such as Rotherham, the team with the better players usually wins.

Encouragingly, we are getting points off the teams around us which is more important than the last season where most of our points came from teams in the top half.

Special mention for Seb who is playing his best for a long time this season.

Never any shame losing to a team like that considering the players they have.

It’s just disappointing after such a good performance against arguably a better team in Chelsea after at the weekend.

4 shots on target and 4 goals says it all really, oh and the 65% possession some times you just have to hold your hands up and say we were beat by a far better team

Don't really want to single anyone out as I thought we were out classed in every position but we might as well have been playing with 10 men last night - Buckley was anonymous ( and I quite like him! ). Seemed like no-one wanted to pass to him even when he had a reasonable amount of room out wide. I think Saturdays effort took its toll, more mentally than physically, and noticed Catts and Seb having the odd spat - hope it's just a passing in the moment frustration thing.

This, I wasn't expecting anything at all but the Chelsea game proved that we CAN play and we CAN defend.

Funny atmosphere last night I thought, far different from the last few games between us when the crowd really helped sunderland get over the line, the extra man as they say.Last night it was all a bit subdued,on and off the pitch as if the belief just wasn't there.Last season in particular was like being back at Roker Park and the players fed off it and the difference between the 2 teams was sunderland just wanted it more, last night couldn't have been any starker in comparison.
I thought beforehand that Wes Brown was a big miss and I think that probably proved to be the case,I'm not sure as good as Aguero is that he would've walked through Brown like he did Coates.
About time I came away from Sunderland with a smile on my face anyway

City were awesome, and that display by Aguero was as good as I've seen in years

Take it, learn from it, and move on

Still think we stood off from taking the lead until we were 3-1 down and out of it. Thought we were doing well before we scored. We weren't giving them time on the ball and got a reward with a goal. No shame in losing to them but I do think Gus messed up by sitting back after we scored. But he's still learning so rather it happened against these and not a team we should be taking point from at home. Still well optimistic, really looking forward to Liverpool.

Fair post mate, I must admit to be being puzzled when I saw the Coates selection, but thought that with the SAmerican attack of yours maybe Gus thought our SAmerican defenders were best fitted to cope. Either way it was a baptism of fire for him. Possibly Wes had a knock and will be more valuable
    next game.

Looking at the state of Wes Brown's eye, after it's "accidental" collision with Diego Costa's elbow, he probably couldn't see well enough to play.

I think Gus played Coates cos he's not allowed to play against Liverpool and no way could Wes play three games in a week.
Thought Gus f*cked up taking Wickham off instead of BUCKLEY when he put Ricky on. Was that damage limitation at that point? Would have preferred to have Connor and Alvarez together and still tried for goals.

To be fair, Sunderland were never really in the game once City equalised. It wasn't surprising to see Sunderland go ahead, given their record against City in recent years at SoL. That record undoubtedly had a psychological effect, both on the Sunderland players and City players. I think had City not equalised so quickly after Sunderland going ahead, then we may well have seen a different outcome. While one may well expect the home team to dictate the tempo from the kick-off, Funk's post is a little perplexing in regards to his comment " I do think Gus messed up by sitting back after we scored" considering how quickly City's goal came after Sunderland scored. He's being revisionist at best in writing that comment.

i agree the funk is talking junk, i honestly thought when rodders fluffed his chance we wouldnt get another one, when we did and took it I thought "here we go again" 1-0, then the sublime equaliser i thought "hang on till half time" then boom, the absolute quality in front of goal made me think they have a chance of catching chelsea, bloody brilliant they were
