Before anyone starts, this is is not a Anti-Bruce thrad trying to bring about anti-Bruce properganda, its just a simple question. How long do we give Bruce? Bruce's future has been brought into question a number of times since christmas last year, some people wanted him gone, some people were still supporting him; now its a new season How long do we give him if we have a poor start? He's brought in young players for the future, who have seemingly came because of him and Quinny and their ambition for the club. Considering this, would it be right too sack him say 10 games in if we are doing poor too bring in a manager who has no connection to the players and who they didnt think they would be playing for just 10 weeks prior meaning we have loored them in falsely so to speak. Would it cause further dispripute for the club and would it be right too sack him looking at the players we have bought for the future so they can play for Bruce and before theyhave adapted to the premier league so Bruce cannot get the best out of him. For me he gets the whole season now and look at the situation next summer after these young players have had the oppertunity to play for him and show some form which proves why he bought them. We will probably have to accept that they will not be at full swing at thew start of the season and we may not be doing aswell as expected come the end of October and we will probably kick into gear for the FA cup and the remainder of the season (much like Everton do) Thoughts? * I am not talking bottom of the league here, say 13-16th place.
Quinn has already said that he is looking to compete with teams such as Everton for final placings this season. To me that says around 7th or 8th. Finishing 13-16th would be a massive fail and if that was on the cards I reckon Bruce would be on his way before the season finished. We need steady results throughout the whole season, I reckon that's what's expected of Bruce, no getting off to a flyer then having a huge slump or vice versa ....... just steady victories week in week out
I've allways been Pro-Bruce but me thinks needs to be given till Xmas to let so many new players settle in would also give any new manager the Jan transfer window, hope and think that this won't be neccersary.
He'll get this season to improve on what's an already improving club. Any step backwards will not be tolerated by the big cheese, i think.
I think as long as we seem to be making progress then Bruce's job will be as safe as houses. However, should the unthinkable happen and we are in the relegation zone by December, I would imagine that Short would find that intollerable.
so much simpler - he`s got until week 2... if we get humiliated by the barcodes then the fans won`t allow him to stay , if we turn them over proper he`s got the full season and needs only to avoid going down!! Really want him to succeed, developing a better squad than we`ve seen for a while (IMO) just a mag thumping away from a knighthood
How long do WE (?) give Bruce. Not in our gift mate and just as well. Compared to the leaders in our club we know nothing.
If you are saying that our whole season, and Bruce's future, revolves around one game then I think you are wrong mate.
Very true mate, but anythink less than a win will be a downer after we have twatted the scousers the week before.
To true mate: but to say that a managers future revolves around this one game is in my opinion affording the Skunks too much respect and influence. For me it is the results over (at the very least) a full season in which a manager should be judged.
Maybe slightly over enthusastic. The Derby games mean a whole lot, but i hate to say it, it's still the same points at stake. Anyhow, this season, no problems, think we're ahead of them at the moment. This is England v the Allo allo boys..........
FFS lighten up - if SNQ/ES were going to get rid after wk 2 they would not be letting him spend now...it is a bloody big game though and we were ****e last season in both matches
Calm down everyone - This is SB final season of excuses if you ask me. If we go 5 games without a win I think he'll be in trouble. He has his tools and some now and I honesty think that his target will be, 3 back to back to back wins, something he hasn't done yet. Also if we go on a bad run, 5+ more defeats or draws he will have serious questions. I know SNQ is very level headed but football is business now too and this is his season where he will be taken to task.
I agree, whilst im a brucie man, this is his season of reckoning..............can't knock him for his signings, now he needs to find a way, a tactic, a solution, on how to get them to click. Buying is one thing, making them into a team is another, and that he needs to do.......i wish him well.
