    fiasco is a great word.

It's just looking more and more like we need a change somewhere in our management/boardroom to me.

As Plastic mentioned about trust being important - I personally don't have faith in Monk as a manager at the moment. I didn't want him when he was given the job, but he had started to make me believe he was the right man. However, down to selections, tactics and substitutions, I don't see any improvement from him. Yes we are in 9th place, but I can count on one hand the number of games where I've been satisfied we've played to the best of our abilities. I'm also losing trust with the board over the way they are handling the contracts they are handing out.

Players are like any celebrity - they crave to feel wanted. Especially the strikers. Clubs know this - if we want to keep Gomis, then we should be sorting this out before he feels the need to go on TV saying these things.

We are not Man U or Barcelona where they can say "No big deal - you can leave - there's plenty more to take your place", because they don't have to work too hard to get the top players to come to them. We do - we are apparently promising players certain game time to get them to sign, because we can't offer the money others can. We are then allegedly going back on these promises. The knock on effect is that any new player who signs, and is given a promise of game time will simply not believe it as this is the second time this issue has come to light ( Gomis, Ki).

We can easily slate Gomis for not scoring 6 against Chelsea, because surely that's all we needed to do to win that game. The reality is that we should be truly judging him after 5 or 6 more games leading the line. Touble is it looks like he'll be gone before we get to see if he's any good.

Exactly what I was thinking. Monk ends up in a lose-lose situation through (presumably) no fault of his own, but still gets a caning from some of the fans.

Emnes isn't good enough at PL level imo . all players have dips in their performances but I don't believe he's good enough to play every game and certainly not as our main striker

As a professional football player, if he wants to leave, he should speak to the club and his agent and ask for something to be done this month. He's acting like a spoilt brat, and it could actually put off potential buyers to know that this is how he acts if he doesn't get what he wants.

Bony was better than him and Gylfi has been unbelievable in the first half of the season, both having a hand in so many goals. So he sat on the bench. We'll never have an exact, neutral transcript of what was said when Gomis signed and, as a result, I take his comments that he was "promised" with a pinch of salt. It's more likely an unfortunate misunderstanding between two parties than a blatant breach of trust.

Regardless of the above, while I, and many others, understand Gomis' feelings - it's actually a good sign that he doesn't like sitting on the bench - he must also understand that when other players are on fire in your positions, you can't expect to play, regardless of what was said. He had plenty of substitute appearances to stake a claim, and many Premier League strikers started from scoring from the bench before being promoted to the starting 11. He should have been putting all his effort into working with the wingers and midfielders in training and staying after training to work on finishing in order to ensure that when he got 10-20 minutes, he was giving himself the best possible chance to score some goals. Instead, it's clear that he was coming off the bench with a feeling of resentment rather than a fire in his belly to perform for Swansea. With that attitude, he was destined to fail.

IIF he thinks he is more important than the club then send him out of the door as soon as possible. I am sure there are other strikers who would be happy to be here. Wales Online are saying our Italian scout is tracking Sampdoria's Italian striker Okaro who scored on his debut for Italy recently.

Maybe we are looking or maybe every striker in Europe in the £6-20 million bracket has become a target!

Okara (25) has a senior record of goals per game 1:4.6 (before Swansea Gomis 1:2.7 , Bony 1:1.8, Gylfi 1:5) and seems to have got his call up to the Italy team for his games at under 21 level which are taken far more seriously on the continent than in the UK.
Not outstanding and not cheap even through Italian football is in a bit of a crisis. At Fulham he played mainly in cup games.
Sampdoria are on track for Europa Cup place.

Whoever comes in Monk needs to sort himself out.
I had not been convinced initially by Gomis' whining, but having seen the quote from Monk's book, statements he's made about other managers, officials and players I am more inclined to believe the truth i what Bafe had to say. It has been obvious from his demeanour that he has been unhappy at Swansea.

I have no idea if this is even close to the situation, but I'm going to throw it on the table for discussion based on this morning's BBC article (http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30874376)

When we signed Ki we guaranteed him - apparently - a minimum number of games. What if we did the same with Gomis and .... somebody forgot to tell Monk, or Monk decided to ignore that obligation.

I still think Monk's a good manager. This is just a mistake and something he will learn from. I'm not giving him a caning (in case you are referring to me), but I think he has t take the blame here. He's the manager, so his job is to manage the players. If any player isn't happy, then that suggests (though isn't certain) that the situation hasn't been managed properly.

If Gomis is talking to the press about this, it seems clear that the situation hasn't been addressed properly by the manager or the club.

But hopefully it will all get worked out one way or another. Either Gomis stays and is happy or leaves and we get someone else in to replace him. Running out of time though. I have a feeling he'll leave close to the end of the transfer window, leaving us no time to get a replacement. This needs to be sorted out right away, like today, not be dragged out for 10 days. Monk needs to know whether he's going or staying.

I would imagine that the decision not to give him the game time promised (if true) was a joint-decision between Chairman & manager or maybe a directive from the Chairman to the manager. Promised game-time is a dangerous thing. I'm guessing it was verbal, since it would be daft to write it into a contract.

That aside, Bony had to be played. Fans in general, and no doubt yourself (Yankee) included, would have blown a fuse had it been any other way. And had Gomis been played to fulfil the "agreement" then people would have blown a fuse, ignorant of all the facts, and Monk would have got it in the neck for being 'clueless'.

If he wants to go get rid. I am with Boundy on this and not sure he is that good anyway and as his performance, attitude and effort showed on Satrurday (all poor) he isnt showing that he wants to be here. get as much as we can for him and buy a striker who actually wants to play for Swansea.

If Gomis was "promised" a certain number of games (pure speculation anyway), then surely he knew he'd get them with Bony going. So why start mouthing off now, after Bony's departure? Makes no sense.

The problem may be that it's his agent's last chance of a big pay-day :emoticon-0105-wink:

With Ki's 20 game guarantee completed he started demanding time off - Laudrup was having none of it and sent him out on loan as soon as he could. Gomis is our player, if he has a problem the manager should be doing the same.

On the subject of Okaro a good striker, I read somewhere, should score on average once every three games anything better than that and you've got a real gem.. On the subject of guaranteed games surely no one in their right mind would agree to that as there are so many variables that it would be unworkable.

Yet if Monk had dropped Bony or Gylfi on a regular basis to accomidate a spoilt egotistical moron like Gomis everyone woukd have ripped Monk to pieces. Bottom line is he isn't good enough to have been starting ahead of them and quite frankly if he doesn't like it he can sod off, the delicate little flower that he is.

I am with you on this Valley. All the news surrounding Gomis is negative, his quotes are negative and his performance on Saturday was certainly negative. I just think the sooner we get rid of him the better it will be for the team. Yes we have to bring somone in, so the sooner we shift this sulking child on the better and the sooner we can replace him.
