Luka Modric will not be handing in a transfer request at Tottenham, his agent Nikky Vuksan has said.

The Croatian playmaker, aged 25, has previously hinted he wanted to join Chelsea, a move that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has insisted he would block.

Now the midfielder's agent has said he will see out his contract at White Hart Lane.

Vuksan said: "I don't think he'll hand in a transfer request. He will honour his contract.

"He wants to play Champions League and win trophies. The only way we can resolve this is to sit down and talk."

He added: "Luka will report today for training and will do his best, as always."

Chelsea have already had a £22 million bid rejected by Spurs. After meeting Modric yesterday, chairman Levy reiterated that Modric had been told he couldn't leave.

Vuksan continued: "I have never been in a situation before where a player has had to fight a club and it's not something we want to do. The only official offer so far is from Chelsea and we haven't talked to any clubs.

"It's no surprise that there is interest in Luka though, because he is a top, top player."

He won't win the CL with Chelsea, nobody will or with Man City. He will do the right thing if he stays with us.

disgraceful from levy. i thought slavery was abolished in 1833. if he wants to go, let him. being held captive is unacceptable.

Because otherwise he'll probably go to Chelsea and they'll be a bigger threat to you.

Slavery is actually working without pay, and being owned.

Modric signed a binding contract to play football for Tottenham for a certain amount of time. He understood the stipulations in the contract, or rather his agent did, and he was paid accordingly.

He knew he would get no CL football this year before he signed so, why did he, if he wanted it so badly?

If Modric wants to go, he has to have the nuts to hand in a transfer request. If not he should shut up and get on with his job.

A contract is a two way thing and both parties have to agree if the contract is to be altered or broken.

Don't worry Jordan, I'm sure the Chavs won't let it go just yet.
There's still a few more underhand moves from Sralex to come, too.

i don't think you need to worry about any moves from us. if would probably take a bid of £60 million for levy to sell and we'd never shell that out on one player, even if we had the money. like ya said, chavs are another thing. arrogant ****ers who won't take no for an answer.

well i'm not pulling anything else <laugh>

    Like you did with Berbatov?

I'm sure that Ferguson will be happy to just unsettle a major player at another Premier League team, even if he doesn't think that he'll be able to afford him.
He's very good at that sort of thing and we all know that nothing ever gets done about it.

we've settled on other targets, nasri or sneijder. levy seems to have got his message across in regards of modric. still nice to steal him off you though.

    My thoughts exactly.

The irony of slagging off Chelsea for their pursuit of Modric clearly lost on the poor manc.

Why is everyone sticking up for Modric and saying he seems like a really nice bloke and not a mercenary etc...

He's just as bad if not worse than the others in my opinion.

Once again. Ultimately, there's no point in trying to cling on to a player whose head is elsewhere. As much as he may "knuckle down and get on with his job" Inside there will still be this resentment, which is bound to start affecting his performance.

Personally, I will feel much more comfortable with the situation if, and when, I hear Luka say he's staying because HE wants to. Not just because he's been forced to.
