QPR owner and F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has made it clear how uninterested he is in football. Yet he says he has no plans to sell the club and will stay at the helm for their return to the Premier League. He is happy with manager Neil Warnock but not impressed with the way he was briefed during the third-party ownership controversy, claiming he was not informed about fears of a double-figure points deduction. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-The-view-Silverstone-pits.html#ixzz1Rc9b3qxB
Wonderful. Good to know he's not money motivated then. At least it keeps those nasty Mittals out of the picture for a while.
Don't read to much into this he is just playing a game for the benefit of the potential buyers. Make uninterested noises about football, but no need to sell is code for you have not offered me enough yet !
You have stories in one paper that Bernie is keeping the club, while in another paper it says that he's employed investment bankers to find a buyer. Which one to believe??? I think the latter is more likely, but if so it would indicate that Bernie would sell to anyone other than Mittal. So it would seem that Bernie feels like he received a smack round the face with a dead kipper from Mittal with the offer he made for the club and subsequent press releases from Bhatia. I thought this lot were all good friends, just shows how when the figures are so big and it's down to business, this lot let all rules and common sense go out the window and it's all about £ signs. It a perfect world, common sense would prevail, Bernie would lower his price to something reasonable and Mittal would raise his bid to match it. Alas this isn't a perfect world, it isn't even the real world, it's the world where QPR reside in between reality and fantasy.
They're "rumoured" to want 100mil to sell us. That would seems very steep in my eyes. They only own 67% of the shares with Mittal owning the other 33% (I think thats correct) So by wanting 100mil for 67% does he think we're worth 150mil then? I'm no businessman so might be completely wrong.
As a regular visitor to this site, I can't believe how many times this story - or similar - comes up. Two things occur to me. 1) You can't believe a word the owners or their potential buyers say. As earlier posters have noted, they are playing a game designed to raise or lower the price of the club. They have spent so long spinning stories and telling lies they forget when they contradict themselves from one day to the next, and while they are happy to use the back pages or other sports media to conduct their business, they pay no attention to the fans, they are talking to small elite of very rich people. 2) I can't believe how the optimism of last season has evaporated, how fatalistic and cynical the fans are, and how powerless we have become. Remember when fans used to buy players for the club? Now we sign petitions and talk of boycotts, knowing deep down the people in charge don't give a monkeys - we could all go and support Brentford for all they care. The Premier league is poisoned by money and the fans have become a sideshow to the 'real' action in the boardroom.
N22hoop you say you are a regular visitor on here but you have only made 3 posts This type of post will be on here everyday because 99% of QPR fans are disgusted with the price increase and lack of transfer activity Until we have changes at boardroom level this type of post will not go away and rightly so
Andrewqpr I said I was a frequent visitor, not a frequent poster - I certainly can't compete with your 1000 posts! Don't disagree with you at all by the way. I want to see the club sold to someone who cares what we want and will continue to check the site to see if this is imminent. Thats 4 posts now!
A few posts of intellgence and common sense are worth more than 200 mindless posts that say "Look what's on the back page of the Sun .. it must be true ... Goons out ... listen to what David Mac says ... it must be true ... Ecclestone is a dwarf ... My mate says that Russians (or Arabs) are going to buy the club ... it must be true ... Briatore and Ecclestone are ****ers ... Barry fry says that QPR is made of **** ... must be true because Barry says so ... let's wave an Indian flag and pray that our saviour Mittal takes over the club." Then, of course "Ecclestone says he supports Neil Warnock ... HE MUST BE LYING ... kill the Goons". It is all to predicable. How many ITK posts have actually been accurate in the last 6 weeks? How many stories printed in the tabloids been true?
