Despite Burton's last-gasp goal tonight (98 minutes!) that is still a great result for us as that looked their easiest game of the run-in on paper. If we win our last three games (admittedly a 'big ask' but not beyond the realms of possibility) then two wins and a draw for them would not be enough for the title unless they run up a couple of cricket scores. Come on Morecambe - help us out a bit on Saturday. York are in a decent run of form but then so were Exeter and we have Goldson and Woods to add some fresh legs. Incidentally Woods could be League 2 Player of the Year even though I suspect he will not be in the first three for Town player of the year - do we under-rate him?
Let's hope we get a win come Saturday and other results go our way! Morecambe need to be switched on.
No you can't win the last 3 matches. That's it, no explanation, no reasoning....you just can't. However, Burton are due a bit of a duff spell.
Thats not a very sensible statement from you greeny. As our manager says we like to take one half at a time but after winning six on the trot before we were cruelly denied a point at Bury by a visually impaired linesman it is perfectly feasible for us to win our last three matches. It will add a bit of spice to the last game if we need to win to have a chance of being champions and you need to get something to make sure of the play-offs (though I hope you have already done that by then).
The last game is why it is extremely sensible greenhouse. Like you I hope it's done and dusted but knowing our team it won't be. We never do anything the easy way. From your point of view I would say you would be better off if we are still there but need a result. The numbers travelling that day are likely to be large for an away contingent given most of the clubs in this league hire a moped for the away travel. If we are done and dusted then some might save their pennies for the playoff games. I believe we have 1500 tickets for the game. We might sell them all anyway but if we need a point then most definately will. In fact if we needed a result then you could probably send us another 1000. I don't need spice adding however.
Our ideal scenario would be for you to be safely in the play-offs and rest at least half of your team while we need a win for the title. However, like you we do not tend to do things the easy way so we will have to wait a week or so to see. At least it will be more lively than those mid-table end of season games with nothing riding on them. 1500 tickets will be your lot as our end will probably be sold out anyway.
I think we will sell out or at least get close to it for Cheltenham. That'll also mean a few more attending home games. As for winning games, we need all three if the others keep winning!
My ideal scenario would be we were there also but until that's confirmed then no you still can't win all 3. Don't be bleddy greedy. In your position you should be selling out every home game. You've been up there long enough.
Congrats on the promotion fellas. Looks like we may have to rely on the play offs to join you. That's if we have any players left to put a side out after the weekend! Thought you were definitely one of the best sides this year along with probably Plymouth and Burton (from what ive seen). The tough bit is sticking in League 1 next year, but enjoy the ride whatever.
Thanks for your sporting post - I really thought you would go up automatically but your smallish squad just caught you out in the end. You must take the prize as the biggest improvers from the year before. I don't envy you the play-off games as we never had much joy from them apart from getting back into the league.
Can't say the thought of playing Stevenage fills me with joy. Their footballing style isn't for the purists
