CHARLTON: Pope, Charles-Cook, Bauer, Diarra, Fox, Gudmundsson, Ba, Kashi, Cousins, Watt, Makienok. SUBS: Mitov, Lennon, Sarr, Bergdich, Jackson, Ceballos, Ahearne-Grant, Holmes-Dennis, Kennedy, Ghoochannejhad BOLTON: Amos, Wilson, Dervite, Derik, Moxey, Vela, Pratley, Davies, Clough, Dobbie, Madine SUBS: Fitzsimons, Feeney, Spearing, Trotter, Danns, Heskey, Taylor, Holding Ex-Addicks Dervite and Lawrie Wilson (on trial). I hope the latter does well (but not too well).
I have moaned before about our website. If you looked at Player there is no mention of tonight's match. Next match was said to be Chievo tomorrow. Really amateurish supervision. Only corrected after the match started.
25 mins: Bolton 1-0 Pratley from a free-kick. Against the run of play as Charlton were having the better of things. Kashi playing the Makelele role well (not as well as Makelele did, though). Charlton rattled by the goal for ten minutes but eventually get their act together and start to attack again. 44 mins: 1-1 Watt starts and finishes a great passing move. First half Addicks the better team. MIdfield diamond of Kashi, Cousins, Ba and Gudmundsson impressive.
Yes Bolton score straight from kick-off (Feeney). Our defence asleep. 2-1. Ceballos on for Cousins at H-T.
60 mins: 2-2 own goal by Pratley deflecting a shot from Watt. All from skilful run by Ceballos. Jackson, Sarr and Bergdych on for Kashi, Bauer and Fox. Danger of losing all shape now. Second best since restart. Great save from Pope, who was not at fault for either goal.
Guess it just proves we need a back up right back. Ironic that Wilson is playing ain't us but I guess his wage would be fairly high for a back up player.
Anyone else confused as to why we're playing a team in our league who we will play twice anyway before the season's out...? Don't get me wrong it's a decent barometer to see where we're at, but it just don't normally happen...
He was one of my favourites but it seems he is no longer good enough. Getting booed by the Bolton fans. Charles-Cook has done nothing wrong. He is only 18 so looks a good prospect. But I agree, need a back-up. (Stephen Kelly if he can get out of bed in the morning).
I understand Chievo cancelled friendlies against both teams, and there was no-one easy to get at short notice, so seemed a decent solution.
Finished 2-2 Good in the first half, poor in the second. Midfield is fine, but shaky at the back (which is understandable with so many changes) and lack a specialist goalscorer. I think Bolton will struggle this season. So we go into our first league match still without having played our best team together for most of a match. They will have to learn teamwork on the job.
Most have rated Kashi one of our successes against Bolton. With his enthusiasm and relish for a tackle looks the sort of player home fans take to their hearts. GL has just said that he is not yet fit enough to last 90 mins playing that way. When he is, I am sure he will be a fixture in the first team. Ba, Diarra and Cousins can also play DM (maybe Charles-Cook too?) so we are well covered for that position when Kashi has to serve inevitable suspensions.
