Sunderland boss Bruce wants winger N'Zogbia to complete the perfect 10.

Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is poised to hijack Charles N'Zogbia's move to Aston Villa and match Alex McLeish's bid.

McLeish has identified Wigan winger N'Zogbia as the ideal replacement for Liverpool-bound Stewart Downing and is willing to match Wigan's £10million valuation.
Third time lucky? Bruce has failed with two previous bids for Charles N'Zogbia (left)
But Bruce has refused to give up the chase on the Frenchman despite having two offers rebuffed by Wigan chairman Dave Whelan in the past 12 months.

The Sunderland boss and chairman Niall Quinn have signed nine new players in the summer but Bruce has yet to fill his problem left-hand side position.

    New boy: Craig Gardner
He is now hoping to convince Sunderland owner Ellis Short to make N'Zogbia his 10th, and most expensive addition of the close season, while shedding at least three players from his current squad.

He would be a SAFC player now if it were not for excessive wage demands.

Villa will be able to outbid us with the Downing money from Liverpool.

    I bet that's why N'ZZZZZZog's hanging on.

Could be but if I was a decent player and 2 similar bids came in, I would look at Villa as the ultimate poisoned chalice. 2 bad results there in the opening 2 games and they will implode. You could be walking into a powder keg.

Sunderland have shown they are investing in their manager after a rough period of time and have stood behind Bruce when maybe some like myself would have got rid of him. That shows that we have the determination to succeed and players with any brains will see that we are building something very good here now.

True enough, Cest. But that's a lot of thinking for a footballer. They usually stick to the bottom line to keep matters simple [Ker-ching!!]

Sid - even when I was writing it I was thinking you know what, I'm writing bollocks.

Money will dictate where he is next season and if that's the case, let Villa have him for £60k per week.

Cest, I'm so over him now I don't want him a any price. If he wanted to play for us he'd have already signed. Put it this way I've had a bad day & when I keep seeing his name listed as a possible you'll understand as someone who loves Sunderland.

We would have to build another changing room so he could get his big head through the door.

well if Villa have offered less than £10m i reckon we should just go and bid £12m and make him a good wage offer (not £65k) and then walk away if its not signed within 48 hours.
But if the rumours Bruce is not in Germany with the players yet i reckon he is at Whelans house kicking the **** out of him
