OK the rules were broken. Reading FC were guilty. The FA dished out their brand of 'justice' - but did the FA REALLY have to be killjoys ?

I am unaware of any public 'disorder' as a result of the incident - which followed a 'special' event in the life of the club- rather like the traditional end of season pitch invasions that follow promotions. No 'real' harm was done. I'm sure that common sense could have prevailed - with 'suspended' sanctions - rather than a hammer used to crack a nut.

What next from the FA -- clubs being fined for exceeding noise levels if their fans cheer too loudly when they score a goal - Let's hope that Mr.Scally has lots of money left for such events this season.

I've always been consistent in arguing that the culture of our game is being destroyed, this is just another example of the shut up and sit down brigade. People who love modern football, need to accept the rules, whereas me, i say stuff the FA and the lot of them that try to cleanse our game.

Hang on, the rules are the rules. Everyone knows you can't invade the pitch for whatever reason and therefore the fine was justified.

The correctness of the rules can be debated, but the the FA have been consistent. Unfortunately there is no room for common sense in law
